Daehyun’s POV:
I laid on the ground, trying to figure out what to do since all my money was back at Youngjae’s. I couldn’t stay here forever. I sighed and got up, making my way towards a park bench. I could just sleep here for the night.
On my way to find such park, I passed by Youngjae’s work. It looked like they were just closing. I noticed that one kid at the register from earlier and the black haired male were just talking and laughing. I knocked and waved. The back hair male smiled and waved me inside.
“Hey, it’s Daehyun right?” I nodded.
“Ne. The one with the destroyed laptop in a zip lock bag.” I chuckled.
“My name is Himchan. I was wondering if you saw Youngjae? He was supposed to work today.” The black haired male, or Himchan, questioned.
“Oh… um… n… no I haven’t.” I tried to avoid eye contact as I slowly backed away from the advancing male.
“Ok, you are clearly lying. Where is Youngjae?” Himchan came towards me, grabbing me by my collar.
“He… He’s sick…” Himchan glared at me.
“Stop lying to me!” He snapped. I bit my lip and sighed.
“He’s at his apartment. We had a fight and so I told him that I didn’t need my laptop fixed anymore. I’m going back to Busan tomorrow, so it’s not him it was me.” Himchan stared at me for a few minutes, before releasing me.
“I guess I have no choice now, but to fire him.” I widened my eyes.
“No! It wasn’t his fault.” I tried to defend him; it was the least I could do.
“It doesn’t matter. He didn’t come to work, and I told him it was his last chance.”
“No, please! Let me explain.”
“I don’t want to hear it Daehyun.” This man was starting to sound like my father.
“Himchan, at least let him-”
“No Jongup! I already talked to Youngjae about this. He knew this would happen.”
“His dad beat him!” I screamed, causing Himchan and the brown haired boy, Jongup, to snap their heads towards me.
“Wh… what?” Jongup spoke up.
“…that’s why he wasn’t here…” I whispered, looking anywhere, but the other males.
“I have to go see if he’s ok.” Himchan stated, grabbing his jacket and heading towards the door.
“He’s fine, but please give him some space.” I begged.
“No, I have to make sure.” I grabbed Himchan’s arm.
“He doesn’t want to see anyone.”
“Is that why you are here?” I sighed and nodded.
“Alright fine, but you better go see him tomorrow to make sure he’s alright. I guess you can stay with me tonight.”
“Thanks hyung!” I smiled, hugging Himchan.
“Hey, get off of me!”
“Oh Himchan, you know you like hugs. Stop complaining.” Jongup laughed.
“I only like Jonguppie’s hugs.” I stepped back to see Himchan pouting.
“Yah! Don’t say things like that.” I laughed at a blushing Jongup and a smirking Himchan.

The next day, it took all of my self control not to hug Youngjae and not let him go, especially after seeing a few bruises on his body. I had to let him go though, because he wouldn’t want me to stay. I was doing him a favor. He’d go back to being quiet and wouldn’t have to get hit by his appa. If I stayed, I’d get him to speak and be beaten every night. I couldn’t let that happen.
I decided to go back to Youngjae’s work and tell Himchan about the quiet boy. He wasn’t too happy about finding about all the bruises, but what can you do? I decided to head down the street with Jongup to a coffee shop, before leaving.
“You seem like a pretty chill guy Daehyun.” Jongup smiled, but really? When doesn’t this kid smile?
“Thanks, you seem like a great catch yourself. Himchan hyung seems to like you a lot.” I chuckled.
“Really? No, he just likes that I’m a hard worker.” The teen merely shrugged and ordered his coffee. I ordered mine and looked around to find a seat. When we got our coffee, we walked over to a table and sat down.
“I barely know you guys and can already tell he looks at you differently. You don’t see it?” I questioned him.
“Well, what about you and Youngjae?” I sighed and shrugged.
“I wish things were different between me and Youngjae, but they aren’t and it sucks. I’m leaving for Busan soon and I’m engaged to a girl.”
“Are you straight?” He asked, taking a few drinks.
“Are you?” I chuckled.
“No.” He answered seriously.
“Oh well… I was kidding, but thanks for the info. As for me, I don’t really care whether I am with a boy or girl. I don’t really have a preference; I just want to be loved.” I took a drink as I thought about Youngjae.
“You know, for someone who sounds so wise, you are pretty stupid.” Jongup laughed, but I could tell he wasn’t joking.
“What do you mean?” I asked, a bit offended.
“You are going back to Busan, right?” I nodded. “Then it doesn’t matter. Come on, I have to get back to work.” We both stood up and I still had a couple minutes to spare, so I walked him to work.
We waved goodbye to each other and he wished me good luck with my life. I laughed and told him good luck with Himchan. The boy just blushed and ran inside the store. I sighed and realized I couldn’t waste anymore time, so I started to slowly walk to the train station thinking about only one person, Youngjae.
I’m really going to miss it here…
