I am the guard dog
he who will forever watch
over those who matter most
so that none are ever lost
but what kind of guard dog is too far away
when needed most
unable to help a friend out of dismay
never having a quiet day
it is my job to protect
but i am still the reject
but someday i will be the revenant
but for now i still fear
the day i fail to be there
it almost came already
and now it weighs heavy
if the time comes will i be ready
we'll never know
