A feeling dread came over me as Rhys and I made our way to the Councilors Hall. I couldn't explain it, but I felt as though my world was going to end in the immediate future. That's what I wanted. What I longed for, but this felt different. Wrong somehow. I swallowed the foreboding feeling.....for now.

the ground was littered with the bones of the damned. A railing of burning brimstone lined the path, and just beyond that was a field of burning souls. the wailed and cried in their torment. looking ahead I could see the doors themselves. Tall black onyx doors framed in sulfur rock that smoldered and smelled rank. an intricate upside down pentagram traced in flaming brimstone and bleached bone decorated the door. at the center of the pentagram there was  rams head with burning eyes that would ask you to announce yourself to the hall.

"Who enters Here" It bellowed. Flames billowing from its mouth.

"Rhys, blood demon of the night" he simple stated

"Tyberius, blood demon of the night"

The flames flared even more before the doors opened. A hot blast of wind greeted us as we entered the hall. before us stood the five great podiums of the Infernal Council.  On the right side were the succubus and incubus. On the left side  were the demons and the fury. The devil himself sat at the most high podium. We knelt  before the Council, heads bowed, waiting for them to speak.

"Tyberius, blood demon of the night, you have been summoned before the infernal Council to receive information about your mate Samandriel. It is given with one condition, you must never inform Samandriel that you are his mate. You must die with this knowledge. Will you accept this term?" Lucifer's deep voice filled the room like molten rock.

So many questions buzzed in my head. why did they want me to die with this  knowledge. what would happen if I told him? I was going to tell him any way but I still wanted to know why.

" I do" I stated never lifting my head to meet their eyes.

" Very well. To ensure that you do not speak a word of this to the Sorcerer, a curse shall be placed upon you both. Should either of you tell him he will die"

Lucifer clapped his hands together chanting in a language older them time itself. The words flowed from his lips and to our ears like sand through an hour glass. When he pulled his hands apart, a upside down fiery pentagram floated between them. The pentagram drifted down towards us then split in two. They shrunk to the size of quarters and hovered in front of us. The pentagrams burned butterfly kisses into ours lips, sealing them. I could not believe that that had just happened. how was I supposed to tell him. I could not die without him knowing the truth.

" It is done" He boomed

With the sealing of the spell came the knowledge that I came for. I knew were Samadriel was last seen.

We left the hall quietly and quickly. the full weight of what just happened hit me all at once. I could not physically tell Samandriel we were mates. Rhys couldn't tell him for me. I had to some how bring him to the conclusion of it. He had to figure it out on his own. If he didn't, I would die with a heavy heart. I would not be able to rest in the afterlife. I would be cursed there as well. I looked to Rhys as we sped our way back through the levels of hell. I couldn't tell what he was thinking. He had a blank look on his face. I had dragged my oldest friend into my quest to die and now he might die if he said the wrong thing. The guilt just kept piling up. As we drew our souls back into our mortal bodies, I became more and more aware of the physical world around me. Rhys groaned on the floor, bleeding profusely. I forgot about the wound I hand inflicted on him prior to our demise. slowly I got up and made my way to the kitchen where I kept my blood stored in the fridge. I grabbed six packs and headed back to Rhys. I popped the first bag into his mouth and the second for myself. I ended up drinking only two, while he needed the four that I hand plus three more. I must have really hurt him.

we sat in the basement in silence for what seemed like an eternity when I finally broke the silence.

"I'm sorry for dragging you into this. It was not my intention to do it. I'm going to find him on my own. you don't need to come with me"

he just sat there not looking at me. I felt that I really fucked up. I can't let him get killed because of me. I wanted to die not get my friend killed.

" Someone has to keep you from doing stupid shit on this journey. It will be fun. besides some one has to clean up the ash when you die." he chuckled lightly and got up from the floor. that's why we were friends. he would never just let me " have all the fun" as he put it. we had been through to much for that.

He turned back to me and said " you comin or what".

I couldn't help but laugh as I followed him to my apartment. This would be our last adventure. I was going to savor it.
