Draioct growled a low and menacing growl, his voice so deep I felt it in my chest, the vibrations sending chills down my neck as the hairs stood up. I had not seen this side of Draioct before, whatever possessed the eyes in the dark should be worried. His eyes were locked onto the new opening in the wall.
"Be ready to move fast in case something goes south." he thought to me. "I sense Dragons and we don't know how they found us, or where their allegiance lies."
He remained crouched like a tiger ready to pounce at a moment's notice, his eyes burning into the darkness, his body a picture of pure power ready to end whatever threatened us.
The rocks that had fallen away from the wall landed hard on the ground and then melted as if they were made of water, disappearing as if never there. My brain froze and searched for answers, where had I seen that before, then it came to me...these dragons controlled Earth. I didn't know Dragons did that. Jack shifted slowly to the nearest weapons rack and grabbed a long sword, slowly drawing it out and adjusting his stance so he was ready to fight with the rest of us.
The Dragons eyes lowered till they were almost flat on the ground in a horizontal line, their figures still hidden in the darkness of their space.
"Come and show yourself!" Draioct said aloud, his voice commanding and powerful. "Why is it that you hide in the shadows? Do you know who we are?"
The eyes remained low as they began moving closer, out of the darkness. Their figures began to show as they came further into the light. The dragons were all different earthy shades of brown and green. They all were about half the size of Draioct, they were either young, or Draioct was a large Dragon. They moved forward low to the ground almost as if they were bowing or trying to show they were not a threat, stopping within thirty feet of us. The biggest of the five, located in the center suddenly spoke aloud in a soft and calm tone, all of their eyes locked on Draioct.
"Alpha. We felt your presence after we were hatched at the crater shrine. We want to become members of your pack. We hereby pledge our lives to you as our Alpha."
As the Dragon finished his speech the five of them bowed their heads and touched their snouts to the dirt, closing their eyes peacefully, almost as if they were accepting their fate whatever it may be.
Draioct looked puzzled for a moment and we exchanged glances at one another and then back at the new situation playing out in front of us. Alpha? Pack?
Suddenly his eyes lit with understanding. He pushed a memory into my mind of how Dragons came together into packs. In desperate times they would seek out an Alpha to join together with. It was a sort of uniting of the clans to overcome great times of adversity. Typically they packed together with similar elements or geographical location.
Times were bad, they sought Draioct out from afar based on instincts and necessity. It took only a moment of thought between us before we had made our decision. After all, we were starting a rebellion weren't we?
"Me and my rider accept you, and welcome you into our pack."
As he finished his words, beams of pure energy shot from the Dragon's cores and connected to Draioct, and then to myself. Bonding them to us in a manner similar to how Draioct and I were bonded. The pack of five new Dragons created a link to their Alpha and me his rider allowing either one to draw energy and strength from the beta members. In conjunction each of the five new members gave us portions of their power levels, increasing the amount of power each of us could store, almost like a sacrifice to show their commitment.
