The morning started off rather uneventful, Eulay and I awoke and began dressing as we talked excitedly about our new scouting team. Draioct and Aisling throwing in ideas here and there as we got ready, the four of us throwing together a pretty solid plan before we even had breakfast. The biggest issue was that none of us had any experience in scouting, or moving around silently for that matter. We sat down at the table and began to devour our breakfast, the smells of the bacon and biscuits filling the air around us. Draioct and Aisling sat beside us and ate away happily in some cooked venison from the night before. The silence filled the room as we all enjoyed our hearty breakfast, the food completely gone within minutes. We made our way to the balcony and got on the dragon's backs, the sun shining brilliantly through the limited clouds, the height giving us a beautiful view of the entire base, the construction on the new buildings moving quickly.

We leapt from the balcony and dove downward hard and fast, the wind rushing by and forcing my eyes to water. Draioct leveled out and we soared peacefully across the base, watching as men and women scurried about busily and carried out their work. Draioct eyed the training grounds where the new scouting team hopefuls were beginning to assemble, Jack. Holbrook, and the other leaders standing at the head of the ranks. We angled down and made our way to the field, landing smoothly behind the generals, dismounting and making our ways towards them.

"Good morning Jack!" I smiled as I approached Jack, grabbing his hand firmly in a handshake as we both radiated smiles. He released my hand and embraced Eulay in a warm hug, she was smiling as she echoed my good morning.

"Good morning Draioct. Good morning Aisling." Jack bowed slightly and nodded his head as he spoke to each dragon, they also mirrored his greetings.

"Now that we have the niceties completed, I want to introduce you to the Scout team hopefuls. The men and women standing before you have either worked in stealth positions previously, or showed some promise in a particular area we thought would be helpful."

I broke from the group we had formed and walked in front of the troops, eyeing them all as I passed, all of them looking to be the cream of the crop. They stood there in formation in the tall grass of our training field, the sun beginning to warm the day as it rose higher in the sky. I walked back over to the group of generals who were now talking with Eulay.

She was becoming my very human second half, I don't think her bond could ever replace me and Draioct's, but ours was a different and very special bond. I found that I had no worry of her talking to people on my behalf, her mind worked very similar to mine if not better in leadership situations. I briskly walked the rest of the distance to catch the tail end of their conversation.

"I have to say Jack, I think Adam will be slightly disappointed that the troops will not be ready to scout today." I walked up and stood next to Eulay as she finished her sentence, my brow slightly furrowing upon hearing the last sentence.

"What's going on with the troops?"

Jack changed his attention from Eulay to me as he began to address my question.

"Well son, we talked about the scouting teams last night after we left the meeting. We all agreed that it would behoove us to train a couple days before sending the troops into an unknown situation. Everyone needs a little training, including you and Eulay."

I stood there pondering for a second, conversing with Draioct within my mind. We really couldn't argue with that logic. I had wanted to get out there scouting as soon as possible, but knew the preservation of lives was much more important.
