Melanie

Chapter 4

Nicole was home alone in her room when she heard someone break into her house.  "Hello?" she asked.  She heard things break.  She texted the girls immediately. When they got there, she was sitting on her bed, crying.

"Nicole!  What's wrong?" Megan asked her.  She looked up at them and saw that Melanie wasn't there.  She didn't even ask about her.  She just didn't care at the moment.  She was way too scared.

"Someone broke in." she said.  Her voice sounded really scared.

"Yeah, we see that.  Your whole living room is a mess. Everything is broken and trashed." said Brooke.

"Are you okay?" asked Hayley.

"No." she said.  All of the sudden, she wanted to know where Melanie was. 

"Where's Melanie?" she asked them.

"We don't know." said Brooke.

"I just have to get out of here." Nicole said.

"Let's go to my place.  My aunt, uncle, and cousin are gone, so we'll have the house all to ourselves." Megan said.

When they got to Megan's place, they went straight up to her room. 

"So who do you think it was?" she asked Nicole.

"I don't know.  I didn't see them at all.  I just heard them come in, things broke, and they left."

"Omg, I'm so sorry, Nicole!" said Brooke. 

"Thank you all so much for everything." she said to the girls.  Just then, Melanie walked in.  she was wearing 3 inch heels and a really slutty outfit.

"You're kidding, right?  You're wearing that?  Nicole's house just got broken into while she was home alone and that is how you support her?" Hayley shouted.

"I'm so sorry I'm late.  Are you okay, Nicole?" she asked, completely ignoring Hayley.

"No, not really, but thanks for asking."

"Aw, you're welcome, sweetie." she said, smiling.

Nicole just kept on crying, partly because her house just got broken into, but also because Melanie was completely disregarding the fact that she was in pain.  She stopped crying. 

"So anyways, Megan, how's Kyle?" she asked.

"He's doing great!  He just got a new job.  He works at the car place.  He loves it there.   All he does is make and fix cars all day.  He said that it's like his dream job." she said smiling.  The other girls smiled, too.

"You guys are so cute!" Hayley said.

"Thanks!" Megan said, blushing. 

"So is there anything that I can do to help?" Melanie asked.  Nicole just looked the other way. 

"I'm fine now, girls.  You can go now.  I'm okay with just Megan."

"Okay." they all said simultaneously, and then left.

"So who do you think it was?" Megan asked. 

"I don't know.  All I know is that I can't be alone right now. Especially at my house." she said.

"I completely understand.  You can stay here as long as you want."

"Thank you so much, Megan."

"You're so welcome, Nicole." they smiled at each other.

The next day at school, she just wanted to ignore Melanie.  She was being such a witch yesterday.  Like, couldn't she show her at least a little respect by showing up on time?

"Hey Nicole! How are you?  Again, I'm so sorry for yesterday.  I was busy." Melanie said.

"Just leave me alone.  Please... Thank you." she said, and walked away.  Hayley caught up to her.

"Hey.  So is it just me, or is Melanie being really rude to us lately?" she asked her.

"Oh no, you're totally right.  Like what is up with her lately?  She's really been giving us an attitude."

"Right."
