Chapter 15

"Tyler? What are you doing here?"

"Oh, hey Hayley! I just came to see if Matt was okay. Megan texted me."

"Oh. Yeah, he will be. He's still in his room."

"So what happened?"

Shit.

"Oh. Um...he and his friends were boxing, and it just got out of hand."

Phew! That was close.

"Oh ok. But he'll be okay, right?"

"Yeah."

"Oh okay. That's good." he let out a sigh of relief.

Are Matt and Tyler friends or something?

"Yeah."

"So how are you? Are you okay? I mean, I know that you and him are pretty close."

Yeah, something like that.

"I will be. I'm gonna stay here until he gets out. I think you should go home. I'll text you and let you know how everything goes with him. Thanks for coming, though, Tyler."

"You're welcome, Hayley." they both smiled at each other as he walked out the door.

What the hell just happened?

She still had a surprised look on her face when she got back to Matt's room with his coffee.

"Hey! Tha-" he stopped when he saw the look on her face. "What's wrong?" he asked her as he took his coffee and set it down on the table next to him.

"Hey, guess who I just saw in the lobby?"

"Who?" now he was scared to know the answer.

"Tyler. Are you two friends or something?"

"Yeah, sort of. Why?"

"Well, because he came by to see how you were doing. And then right before he left, he asked again if you were going to be okay. It was really weird. How long have you two been friends?"

"Well, that's nice of him to stop by. And we've been friends since I got here."

"That's like 2 weeks, Matt. How can you become friends with him in such a short amount of time?"

"Well, 1) it was more like 3 weeks. And 2) because we have so much in common. Why? Do you have a problem with us being friends?"

"No, of course not. I just never expected you to become friends with him."

"Why?"

"No reason."

Only because I've had like the biggest crush on him ever since I met him.
