Melanie

Chapter 9

When Nicole got home from school, she did everything she could to find clues about who broke into her house last night. After a little while of searching, she finally found a clue near one of the broken lamps: one of Melanie's earrings.She needed help to get back at Melanie, so she called Hayley and Megan. They came over right away.

"So she just broke into your house and trashed everything?" Hayley asked.

"Yup! Ugh! I am SO mad at her right now. I need to get my revenge."

"Yes you should!" Megan said, smiling.

"I agree, but how?" Hayley asked.

"I don't know. Let's think. What, or who, does she love more than anything or anyone?"

"Her car!" Megan shouted.

"Yes! Ok, so now what? What do we do to her car?" Hayley asked.

"Egg it!" Megan shouted again.

"No! That's too easy. And that could also be fixed very easily. We need to do something permanent to it." Nicole said.

The girls thought in silence for about 2 minutes.

"We drive it somewhere where she will never find it. Her keys are hid inside it. The top is down." Nicole said.

"Yes!" the other girls said, simultaneously, smiling.

"And we do something with Brooke. Melanie trusts Brooke more than anyone." Nicole said.

"I can try and convince her how bad of a person Melanie is." Megan said.

"Yes, that's perfect!" Nicole exclaimed.

"And I can do the same thing with my friend, Matt. He came back from Australia just the other day, and Melanie instantly fell in love with him." Hayley stated.

"Yes! Thank you both so much for all of your help. I really appreciate it." Nicole said smiling.

"Of course. You know that we're always here for you no matter what, Nicole." Hayley said. Megan nodded, both smiling.

"Ok. So now we all know what to do. Megan, you've got Brooke. Hayley, you've got Matt. And I've got the car." Nicole said. They all nodded and smiled.

Nicole was really nervous to drive Melanie's car far away from there, but she knew it had to be done. She knows of this old junk yard where she can take the car to, so she did that.

And then she thought that Melanie would find it and take it back, so she trashed it, and then she tossed the keys into another car near there that was already trashed. After she did all of that, she felt pretty good about it. She knew that Melanie deserved it, big time.

Megan went to Brooke's house. Thankfully she was already outside, so she didn't have to ring the doorbell.

"Hey Brooke!" she said, smiling.

"Hey Megan!" Brooke said, smiling back. "So, what are you doing here?"

"Oh! I just came to tell you something about Melanie."

"What did she do?"

"You know that guy Matt, from Australia? Hayley's ex?"

"Yeah, why? What did she do to him? He seems like a really nice guy!"

"He definitely is! But apparently when Melanie said that she liked him and when she flirted with him and made out with him at that restaurant the other day, she was just faking all of it. Apparently, she did it all just to get close to him and to get him under her wing, so that she can kidnap him and torture him." she said, with a sad look on her face.

"Yeah, right. Like Melanie would do that. We've known her since like kindergarten, Megan. There's no way. In fact, I'll text Melanie right now to prove it."

"Don't say I didn't warn you when he's not in school tomorrow. I have to go, I have tons of homework to do."

"Bye, Megan." She threw her a look of disgust and looked down at her phone.

"I just don't want her to hurt you, too. That's all." she said sarcastically, and walked away.

Although, it wouldn't be such a bad thing. Hayley said under her breath as she walked away from Brooke.

Hey, Megan came by yesterday and said you're torturing Matt. That's not true right? Brooke texted Melanie and waited nervously for a response.

Haha, of course not! Why would you believe that? Melanie texted back.

I don't know, haha. I'm sure there's nothing to worry about and I'll see Matt tomorrow at school.

Um, yeah. See you tomorrow.

Sure enough, Matt was missing the next day.

Maybe Melanie isn't everything we thought she was.
