Melanie

Chapter 2

The next morning, she went back to the coffee shop, and luckily, the cute guy was working there.  She ordered a hazelnut latte.  While she was waiting for him to make it, she got a text from Melanie in all caps: "WHERE ARE YOU? SCHOOL STARTS IN 10 MINUTES! GET OVER HERE RIGHT NOW!"

She ignored it.  He gave her a smirk while handing her coffee to her.  When she got in her car, she noticed what he wrote on her cup: Kyle Miller 256-2072 :)

She smiled.

When she got to Melanie's house, she could already hear her yelling at her as if she was her mother.  "WHERE WERE YOU? YOU TOOK FOREVER!" she looked at her cup and smiled.  The other girls came over to her to look at her cup.  "OMG!!!" "AHHHHH!!!!" "YAY!!!"

"What are you girls screaming about?" Melanie said and came over to look at Megan's cup too.  She smiled at her. 

"Alright. Now it's time to go to school." she said.

When the girls got to school, everyone stared at them as they walked through the halls of Manhattan High School.  They were the most popular girls in school.  None of the girls cared about it as much as Melanie did.  They were all super fashionable, thanks to Melanie.

3 of them had the same class 1st period.  Megan, Hayley, and Nicole.  About 5 minutes after they got there, she saw Kyle Miller walk into the classroom and take his seat. She was all the way in the back and he was in the row next to her and several seats up.  He looked back at her and smiled.  She smiled back and Hayley and Nicole saw.  "Is that him?" Hayley asked her. Megan nodded her head and whispered, "Yes!"  They both smiled at her. They all giggled.

At lunch, they all sat together.  They talked about all of the cute guys in the school.  "Megan's guy goes to school here!" Nicole told Melanie and Brooke. 

"Oh that's nice for you, Megan." she said with a sassy tone.  Megan lost her smile and tilted her head down.

After school, Megan called Kyle.  He answered right away.

"Hey!"

"Hey! I'm free tonight.  Wanna meet me at the coffee shop?"

"Sure! I'll be there at 8!"

"Sounds great! See you then!"

"See you then!"

When she got to the coffee shop, he was already there, working.  When he saw her walk in, he pulled his apron off and tossed it next to him.  He walked out from behind the counter and walked up to her.

"Hey!"

"Hey!"

They walked over to a couch in the back and sat down.

"So, how long have you been going to Manhattan High School?" she asked him.

"About a year." he responded.

"Oh really? Wow! How come I haven't seen you around?"

"I don't know..." he paused. "God, you're beautiful"

Megan blushed.  She got an emergency text from Melanie saying: SOS

"I'm so sorry, but I have to go.  It's an emergency." she said to him as she was getting up to leave.  "Um...I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Definitely.  See you tomorrow."he said.

She smiled and ran out the door. She rushed to Melanie's house.When she got there, there were 3 other cars parked on the curb and one in the driveway.  That one was Melanie's.  She drove a hot pink convertible.  Megan ran inside.

"What's wrong, Mel?" she asked her.

"Oh, I just need someone to go shopping with me."

"What? Why can't you do that yourself? I had to leave in the middle of a date for this." Megan cried.

"I'll go!" Brooke said.  She was the most gullible one out of all of them. The 2 of them went shopping while the rest of them complained about how needy Melanie has been lately.
