Chapter 14

Hayley waited about an hour in the hospital waiting room until one of his nurses finally came out to tell her the news.

"What is it? Is he okay?" she asked the nurse, frightened.

"He will be. He has a few broken bones, and he may or may not have a concussion. He is going to have to stay for for at least one night. You should probably go home and get some rest." one of his nurses said to her.

"Okay. Thank you. I'll be back tomorrow morning. Will I be able to see him then?"

"Most likely, yes."

"Okay, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Hayley couldn't sleep knowing that Matt was in the hospital. She tossed and turned all night.

Finally, she got some real sleep and woke up early enough to go and see Matt.

"Hi. How may I help you?" the woman at the front desk asked Hayley.

"Hi. I'm here to see Matthew Ryan." she said. She was extremely out of breath.

"Oh. Yes. Go right in." she motioned Hayley into the direction of Matt's room.

"Okay, thank you." Hayley said as she ran towards his room.

"Why, you're very welcome." the woman yelled down to Hayley.

When she got in there, he was still asleep. She pulled up a chair right next to him. She took his hand and held it in hers. His hands were really cold, so she cupped them in her hands to try and make them warmer.

He woke up about a minute after she got there. "Hey." he said to her, smiling. His voice was soft and crackly.

"Hey. How are you feeling?"

"Better. Thanks for coming, Hayley. It really means alot to me that you're here."

"Aw, of course, Matt. You know I'm always here for you."

They both smiled at each other.

"Do you want anything? Maybe a coffee?"

"Um...sure. Thanks."

"You're welcome." Hayley said, smiling again.

When she got to the lobby, she saw a familiar face.
