Chapter 12

When the girls found Matt, he was tied up to a chair with his mouth covered with duct tape. He was covered in blood and scars on his face, and he was knocked out.

"Oh my God! Matt!!" Hayley shouted. She ran over to him to see if he would wake up.

"Is he dead???" Nicole asked.

"No, he's just unconscious. He still has a pulse." Hayley responded.

Megan let out a sigh of relief. So did Nicole and Hayley.

"Ok, so now what do we do?" Nicole asked.

"We take Matt to a hospital and we find Melanie." Hayley said.

"I'll keep her phone. Maybe we can find clues in here." Megan said.

"This is really scary." Nicole was still shaking.

"Yeah, it is." Megan was almost speechless.

"You girls are right. It is really scary, but we can make it through this if we all work together, alright?" Hayley was trying to comfort them.

When they got to the hospital, Hayley ran inside with Matt, yelling for help. The nurses put him on a stretcher and took him to one of the rooms. Hayley watched after him in shock.

"Alright, now it's time to find Melanie." Megan stated.

"You know what? I think I'll just stay here and wait until Matt gets out of the E.R." Hayley voice was soft.

"Are you sure?" Nicole asked her.

"Yeah I'm sure. I want to be here when he gets out."

"Okay. Text us if you need anything." Megan was really scared to go find Melanie without Hayley, who has always hated her the most.

"Okay. Thanks girls."

"You're welcome." Nicole said, also scared.

"Alright, let's go, Nicole." Megan almost whispered.

"Okay." They walked out of the E.R. and into the car.

"Okay, so now we go and find Melanie. I'll look in her phone to see if I can find any clues." Megan looked through Melanie's phone.

"Okay." Nicole just kept driving.

"I found something!"

"What is it?"

"There's a phone number in her notes. I'm going to call it."

There was an answer on the first ring.

Hello?

"It's a guy!!" Megan whispered.

"You're Melanie."

Hi. This is Melanie Fisher. Who is this?

Oh! Hi Melanie! Sorry, I didn't recognize the voice. This is Alec. So, how did it go? Did you knock him out yet?

"Shit! That was her!" Megan whispered to Nicole.

Yes, I did.

Good. So now our plan is in motion. Who's next? Brooke?

"Oh my God!!!"

Actually, I changed my mind. I don't want to torture anyone anymore. My so-called "friends" found me out.

Oh, okay. Are you sure?

Yeah I'm sure. Thanks for all your help, though, Alec.

No problem, babe.

"Babe?!" Megan hung up immediately.

She had it on speaker, so Nicole heard everything.

"Okay, this is super creepy. Did you find out where Melanie is?"

"No, but I have an idea. Do you remember where Brooke lives?"

"Yes. Of course I do."
