Nine - Café au Lait

I was sitting on my computer doing some school work as usual and I was actually immensely proud of myself.

The school had sent me an email with my schedule for my final year, as well as the syllabus program and I was on the right track. I really had to work myself to the ground this year.

I decided I'd have to leave the café early to go and buy my school supplies today.

So after some studying I went to Angelina's table. We had decided that her table would be our meeting spot since it was just beside the glass window and we'd spend time watching people rushing off to work, keeping up with their day and we'd make up stories about them.

I knew it was her thing, that's why I suggested the idea, hoping she'd mention the notepad and that she does something similar to this.

But of course, she didn't.

"Hey Erik, how did your studying go?" Angelina said cheerfully while putting her books away.

"Pretty good actually, just received my syllabus program actually, I think I'm ready to slay this year" I said smiling.

"That's the Erik I know" She said winking while flipping through the menu.

Yeah, we were getting kind of close.

"So, what are we trying today?" I said.

"I'm browsing through the menu right know," she said her eyes scanning the drinks. "Hey, I'm thinking Café au lait?"

"Wait, you haven't tried it before?" I asked surprised.

"Of course, but I haven't tried it with you."

I smiled to myself and tried to think of a response, but I guess I'm not good with words and that's like, the worst thing ever when you're trying to impress a girl.

"We'll try it together then" I said trying not to sound too lame as I motioned to Lilly to come and take our orders.

Lilly came over smiling, being her usual lively self.

"So how's my favorite nerd ass" she asked giving me a side hug.

"Nerd ass is fine here, how's my Lilly?" I asked hugging her back.

"Fine fine" she sighed dramatically.

I loved calling Lilly's name because ironically, lilies are her favorite flowers. I used to bring her lilies every now and then, she'd put them in one of the coffee cups placed on the counter and occasionally smell them and she sometimes tucked them in her books, but unintentionally, I stopped when Angelina started coming around.

I think Lilly noticed but she chose to stay quiet about it.

I should actually go back to spending more time with her and getting her lilies.

Lilly means  a lot to me and I've always hated people who ignored their friends when starting to get involved in a relationship –or whatever this thing we have is - okay fine, friendship.

We both ordered two cafés au lait and Lilly went back to the counter.

"So I received a copy of my supply list today" Angelina announced.

"Oh yeah? My school just sends us the schedule and we figure out what to get. I was planning on leaving early today to go stationery shopping" I said.

"Well, what do you say we go together after drinking our coffees?" She offered enthusiastically.

I couldn't believe that these words were directed to me.

I mean me and Angelina together? Somewhere other than the café?

Oh my God.

She made a sound at the back of her throat as if to say "Umm, hey?"

"Uhh, yeah sure. I'd love to." I said smiling nervously.

What if I walked way too fast or way too slow? Or what if I tripped?

What the fuck is wrong with me?

It's just walking.

Angelina really makes me so anxious but also extremely exhilarated as conflicting this may sound.

I just really liked Angelina. Like a lot
