Jay's P.O.V.:-
Ten days later, Sanaya and Jay were checking out their hotel room in the Maldives. Sanaya had recovered now but was still advised to not put pressure on her stitches. The room was beautiful and the hotel staff had done an outstanding job of decorating the room for their "honeymoon". Jay rolled his eyes. As if. Some honeymoon it was. His wife would in no way let him touch her.
He watched as Sanaya bent over to retrieve her suitcase and immediately cringed and straightened up holding her stomach. She quickly glanced at him to see whether he noticed her mistake and he stared right back at her, unflinchingly. She almost looked ashamed. Almost. His lips twitched at her antics. He headed over to her and retrieved her suitcase for her. She said, "thank you", still not looking at him. He opened his own suitcase and took out a pair of shorts and a comfortable t shirt and headed into the washroom to take a shower.
When he came out, he stopped in his tracks. Sanaya was looking absolutely gorgeous in white hot pants and a turquoise blue camisole. She had tied her hair into some sort of a bun. She was unpacking her suitcase. It looked like she had finished. He saw her hand move towards his suitcase a few times and then draw back when he cleared his throat.
Sanaya turned and said," I was wondering if we could go out for a walk?" When he didn't answer, she continued," it's fine if you don't want to. I will go out for a walk myself." Jay said," no I'll accompany you."
Like hell he was going to let her roam about alone in a foreign land when she looked this good.
They headed out of the hotel and into the beach. The view was beautiful. The sun had just set and the sky was shattered with streaks of white clouds. There were quite a few people on the beach and on one side, a restaurant was setting up tables outside for dinner. Jay and Sanaya walked in silence along the beach. She seemed lost in thought. She walked close to the water and let it wet her feet. Her face lit up in a smile the moment the water touched her feet. Jay knew how much she loved the beach. That is why he had chosen this as their honeymoon destination. A few minutes after Sanaya finished wading her feet in the water, they resumed walking; again in silence. Suddenly, he heard a girl laughing loudly and he turned to look. It was a young couple, younger than Sanaya and Jay, the boy was tickling the girl while they were sitting on the sand and the girl was screaming with laughter. Jay sighed and turned away. He wondered if they would ever find happiness like that. He glanced at Sanaya's face and she looked slightly morose too, if he wasn't wrong. They resumed walking along the edge of the water and suddenly, Jay wanted to hold her hand. He inched closer to her. She didn't seem to notice. He brushed his hand against hers once and she didn't react. He did it a couple of more times, haltingly, not sure how she would react. Sanaya didn't react. Perhaps she thought he was doing so accidentally. Or maybe she just didn't care. With these thoughts, Jay started to drawback and increase the distance between them when a soft hand engulfed his hand and stopped him from doing so. His head whipped up to look at Sanaya. She wasn't looking at him, she was looking at the ocean but he could see the upward turn of her lips. He squeezed her hand and with a new hope in his heart and a smile on his lips, continued walking by her side.
