Chapter Eleven

Zack's P.O.V.

"I don't know what you want you want from me, but you are messing with the wrong person," she said. She tore her hand away from mine and started running. I didn't know where she was going, but I wasn't following. I walked back inside and got my umbrella and then walked back home hoping that I didn't catch an ammonia. When I got home, I remembered why I went to see her in the first place. I groaned and turned around. I needed to dry off first, so I went up to my room and borrowed my mom's blow dryer.

I sat at my desk chair and dried my hair. I looked at Skye's window across the way to see her handing the boy a box. He put a hand on her cheek again, and then left, saying something I wasn't able to make out. I walked out of the house and into the street just in time to see her there crying, trying not to run after after him. I walked up to her and hugged her while carrying her inside her house so she could dry off.

"Looks like you dried off for nothing," I thought to myself. I sat down on the rug by the front door with her in my lap so that her carpet wouldn't get wet.

She cried, and I whispered sweet nothings in her ear like 'it'll be okay' and 'I'm here for you' until she stopped crying. She looked up at me with her icy blue eyes. They were now filled with hurt instead of hope. I was lost in them, and my heart sped up. She was beautiful.

Skye sat up still in my lap, put her hands around my neck, leaned in close enough so that I could feel her breath, and just as I thought she was going to kiss me, she whispered to me.

"I know that we just met, but I'm really glad that you are the one here with me," she said. I felt the heat slowly creep up to my face and I could tell that I was hardcore blushing. The way she looked at me made my heart pound so hard against my ribcage that I swore that she could hear it. She hugged me, still in my lap burying her face in my neck, and I hugged her back involuntarily. I finally snapped out of my daze and responded.

"Yeah, me too. By the way, I really am glad that I met you," I said. She didn't say anything, but I felt her smile against my skin. We stayed like that for a few minutes and all I could think was "Wow. Who knew this was coming?"

When she finally pulled away from me, she looked me in the eye, and she smiled. I smiled back and realized that she was keeping me warm and I was still soaking wet.

"Hey, by any chance, do you have a blowdryer?" I asked. She laughed.

"I have nine. Take your pick," she responded. I nodded. She got up off of me and for some reason, I felt...sad? No way. I must have been mistaken. She grabbed my hand and pulled me up the stairs to her room which shocked me.

"The blowdryers are in here, but if you don't mind, I have to use one too. Is it okay if I go in with you? I don't really want a cold," she asked. I laughed. She gave me a questioning look.

"Did you just ask permission to use your own bathroom?" I asked still laughing. She blushed.

"Yes..." she responded. I rolled my eyes. Then I opened the door and gestured for her to enter.

"After you," I said. She smiled.

"Why thank you Zack," she responded. We both walked in and she got out the blowdryers. I looked down at the one she handed me shocked. It was a high power fast drying hair dryer that could have easily gone for one hundred dollars according to my mom. She laughed.

"Use it, before you catch a cold," she said. I nodded and plugged it in next to hers. I looked at her as she dried her hair. As the moisture was slowly disappearing, her hair formed natural spirals and she looked...beautiful. She looked over at me and gave me a look.

"What?" I asked.

"You're doing it wrong, silly. You do it from the top so it doesn't drip down and re wet the hair at the bottom," she said rolling her eyes and walking over to me.

"Like this," she said drying my hair for me. I smiled.

"Thanks," I said unplugging the blowdryer. She threw her hair into a side braid quicker than I could blink. Ok maybe not that quick, but still. After that, she looked at me and smiled. We walked into her room again and I wasn't really paying attention before, but her room was covered in anime posters.

"You like anime?" I asked. She turned around and gave a 'seriously' look.

"Nooooooo. I just buy all of these posters because I hate anime," she said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes.

"Okay I get the point," I said laughing. She joined me and sat down on the end of her bed.

"So, I was wondering if you wanted to work on the project with me. Last time I did all of the work so I would totally understand if you know you don't feel like working with me," She offered.

"Like I would ever do that to you. I would love to work on the project with you. Will now work for you?" I asked.

"Of course. My dad works late tonight and I could use some company anyway," she explained. I nodded.

"I don't have my book with me, do you want me to go get it?" I asked.

"Don't be stupid. It's pouring outside. You can share with me," she said kindly. I smiled and she walked over to her desk. Once she had gotten me a chair, she pulled out the book and started to explain what was going on. As she spoke, I was half paying attention to what she was saying and half to her eyes.
