Chapter Twelve

Zack's P.O.V

Once I was caught up on the reading, we wrote a book report and actually had fun. I knew that it was getting late, but I didn't want to leave. Skye looked at me, and I looked back smiling.

"Should I go-" I started to ask if I should leave, but Skye cut me off.

"No, don't. I want to talk to you some more. Unless you want to leave," she said. I shook my head and sat down.

"How about we just ask questions. Like truth or dare with no dare," I offered. She nodded.

"When's your birthday? Mine is July 18th" she asked.

"March 27th," I answered. She looked at me really excitedly. I gave her a confused look.

"That's next week for one, and for two, it's Easter this year! Do you have plans? I really want to celebrate with you," she exclaimed. She smiled.

"I would love you to come," I said while smiling back.

"Okay, I guess that it's my turn now. Where were you born? I was born in Arizona," I said.

"I was born in California. Looks like we are both west coast kids," she said smiling. I nodded.

"We are a long way from home huh? Maine is all the way across the country," I said. She agreed.

"What's your biggest secret?" she asked. I wasn't going to answer, but when I looked into her eyes, I felt so safe that I told her anyway.

"I was...well, I was in an illegal fight club," I said hesitantly.

"Huh, small world. So was Chase, and I guess you could say me as well because I trained in the studio," she said. My jaw dropped.

"No way," I denied the statement all that I could. No way she was in it. Ever.

"Wanna bet?" she asked. I nodded and stood up. She stood as well and got into fighting stance. She knew that wouldn't hit a girl, so she threw punches. 1,2,3,4. One after another. Her force was strong, but I blocked. She breathed out each time and did everything that I did when I used to fight. I caught one of her punches and pinned her to the ground, but in the blink of an eye, she had switched us around and she was on top.

"You weren't lying," I stated. She nodded. We both got up and sat back in our original positions.

"What about you, what's your biggest secret?" I asked.

"Well there are a few. One: I'm not Ms.Perfect, but you knew that already. Two: I have a tattoo on my arm," she said. I was in total shock. My mouth hung open and she laughed.

"Would you like to see?" she questioned. Without even thinking, I nodded. She started lifting her shirt and I freaked out.

"Woah, woah, woah! Stop what you are doing you don't need to take off your shirt!" I exclaimed. She laughed.

"I have a tank top on Zack, calm down!" She stated still laughing. She took off her top leaving her in a tanktop, and she showed me her tattoo. It said 'good girls are bad girls' with a heart. It was really well done.

"How did you get it done? Aren't you only seventeen?" I asked.

"Yes, but I have a fake ID. Plus, I got it done in freshman year while I was emo which made me look a lot older," she stated calmly. I nodded.

"What's your favorite food? Mine's filet mignon," I said.

"I like chicken crescent squares," she answered. I smiled and laughed. She shot me a look.

"What?" she asked skeptically.

"I've never even heard of whatever that is," I replied. She gasped.

"That won't due," she said standing up. I stood up to. She walked down stairs and got out some supplies from the kitchen. She started defrosting some chicken.

"You are going to stay for dinner. You still can't go home because of the rain, and I think a major storm is coming. I don't know where it came from, but it should be gone by morning," she explained. I had no objections. I was having a blast.

I watched as Skye made this dinner and it honestly looked really good. She cooked, chopped, and stirred until everything was ready. I helped set the table and I poured drinks. She got silverware and dished out food. We both sat down and got ready to eat. I took the first bite up to my lips and blew on it before putting it in my mouth. It was the best thing I had ever had.

"MMMM! Oh my gosh I change my answer. This is my new favorite food. Whose recipe is this?" I asked.

"Mine. I came up with it a few years ago. I'm a really good cook," she said.

"I can tell. This is amazing!" I exclaimed. She smiled and nodded.

"Boop Boop Boop," Skye's phone beeped. She pulled it out of her back pocket and checked her notification. Her smiled dropped and she looked saddened and angry.
