Chapter 10
The time for our plan was almost upon us. Strangely Egrik had not searched for us, or even checked to see if we were still here. Amicia came to see us only once throughout the day to ensure us that our plan was well under way of happening. She then showed us the dagger she planned to use for her safety, but I saw that it was mearly a small knife used to cut food. I gripped the knife and cheked the blade, summoning my spear and sharpening the tip of the blade on my spear. Now the knife would be sharp enough to pierce through armor. She took the knife and left us to wait until the plan was to happen. So here we waited and as the time neared I grew worried about her plan. She wanted to use herself as bait for Egrik and get his guard down, that will be when we break into the room and kill Egrik. I felt no remorse planning the death of my own brother, and it actually felt good to imagine that there would be one less road block in my way. I looked to see Roan still looking out the window at the darkening sky, Ilorten simply sat thinking. I wished I could see what their thoughts were, but of course I didn't want to mind share. So I sat and hoped Amicia wouldn't be hurt in her bravery, I don't know why but something about her held in my heart. Is it possible she is gripping my heart without even trying?
It was finally time for us to break into the room to fight Egrik, he had taken Amicia into the room only moments ago and I heard his wicked laughing and the tearing of fabric. Unable to wait any longer I broke the door down with a slice from my spear. Egrik was standing before the bed, as Amicia lay in her underclothes. I rushed Egik with my spear, but he evaded with unimaginable speed. He then tried to throw a punch, but Roan was there delivering a powerful kick to his leg causing Egrik to fall. Egrik quickly rolled backwards from this assault and leapt to his feet. He then went into a fighting stance I had never seen before, his fists drawn in close to his body. I charged him, and he quickly side stepped trying to throw a punch. Seeing this I backstepped and threw a kick to his chest, he quickly caught this and sent me flying backwards. I hit the floor, but then I saw Roan charge him. Egrik had not expected this, and when Roan hit him they both flew through the solid stone wall.
Through the hole I saw moonlight and quickly got to my feet rushing to the hole with Ilorten. Once there I jumped through to see Roan and Egrik fighting each other in hand to hand combat. Roan was delivering powerful kicks to Egrik, while Egrik tried to hit with his punches but continuously missed. Finally Roan drew his sword and began to swing it at Egrik, but then I saw a large smile grow upon his face as he lept into the air and punched Roan in the back. Roan lost grip of his sword and turned to fight Egrik, but Egrik had rushed around him and was now gripping the greatsword. He held the sword in a similar fashion to how Roan held it, and seemed to enjoy the feel of the blade. He then skillfully began to swing the sword at Roan. I knew I needed to help him, so I rushed in with my spear blocking a strike from Egrik and hitting him in the side with a kick. Ilorten then charged with his daggers held low, Egrik saw the charge and smirked as he rolled out of the way and threw the greatsword at us. We all ducked the blade as it struck into the side of the church. When we all stood up, Egrik was nowhere to be seen.
After Egrik dissapeared we re-entered the church to see all the women looking happy to be free of this man. Amicia was now redressed and walked up to look at the three of us standing in the entrance of the church. Seeing her she then began to speak in a voice that sounded so smooth and sweet, "Thank you for all of this, but as I saw that man is not dead. I have sworn to the heavens that he will die, and I must see to it that he does." The women of the church looked at her with surprise and shock, the elderly woman looked at her with what looked like dissapointment. "My dear you cannot follow the path of vengeance. Now I know the reason for your vow to silence, but even that vow has been broken. I dont think we can accept you as a member of our church any longer." Amicia looked to the woman with shock, but it was quickly replaced with what appeared to be determination. "The church has no meaning to me now that that man has defiled the very reason we live here. He has taken the purity of our sisters and has destroyed all that we hold dear to us. He has torn apart everything, beaten and battered the poor young girls who decided they wanted to be free from the cruelty of the world and try to make it a better place with prayer." Once she said this she turned and walked through the doors we stood in. The women of the church seemed to agree with her and walked out, the beaten ones being helped by another girl. The elderly lady being the only woman left inside the church. She looked on dumbstruck as the women of the church simply left the building without looking back. I turned to see the women all standing in the moonlight gathered around Amicia. I walked to them, knowing this was where I would aquire my army from this kingdom.
