  Chapter 12

We all stood in silence, looking through the broken frame of the window. The woman who had spoken had removed her helmet to reveal her face. She stood as tall as I was, and seemed to hold the build of the other warriors despite being a woman. She held short red hair that fell no farther than her shoulders, her eyes a sharp blue. The other soldiers began to do the same, revealing to mostly be women. Only one man stood among them. He was smaller than the women seemed to be, and only had short brown hair. He looked around at the dead bodies with fear, as though he had never seen dead people before. The red haired woman approached me and said, "I can tell your the king slayer, but I follow no man. These are my soldiers and you will prove to me why I should allow them to join your cause." I looked at her with surprise, but I quickly realized that she was a part of a group that never answered to anyone but themselves. I nodded to her, and approached the window and looked out to see the snow blowing by. I turned to see the woman speaking to the other soldiers, then she came to me again and said, "My name is Elene, the woman you were about to kill is my sister.... or was at least, now she's given herself to a demon. Most of the members of our order did actually, only this group stayed faithful to me. They all feared the kings demon son more than me, and I will make them learn to fear me more than the devil himself. You little man will help me release my warriors from the demons and only after that is done will we join your little fight." "You have a deal, but I have no idea how we will go about releasing them...." "I know how to do it." Amicia chimed in an excited voice. She pulled out a necklace from within her shirt to show that it was a small cross. "This is a sacred object, and nothing evil can touch it. If they do it immediately kills it." "So we just get them to touch your necklace?" Elene asked. "Well its harder than that. We have to put it on them." Amicia replied, her face flushing red as though she realized it was a stupid idea. "Well its better than nothing girl. Alright you weaklings, gather your stuff and prepare to head out. We will be leaving to start getting those damned demons out of my soldiers." Elene barked to the others, she then placed her helmet back on and walked to recover weapons from the dead bodies.

We only stayed in the building for about an hour, and now we had only trekked to the next building over. As we entered I could feel the power of the demon soldiers, but it seemed slightly distant. I began to wonder if they were in this building, when suddenly warriors fell from the rafters surrounding us. I quickly summoned my spear as the other soldiers readied their weapons. Everyone was armed except Amicia, but she seemed to be fine in the center of the group. We all flew into action trying to not kill the warriors, but that proved to be difficult when they aimed to tear us apart. I swiftly flew into the enemies, knocking them from their feet and bringing them to the ground. I saw Amicia quickly run to the downed enemies and begin to put the necklace on them. As soon as the necklace touched their skin their bodies shuddered and from their eyes a red light slowly turned blue. Once this was over she rushed to another warrior I downed. She continued doing this for anyone downed, but we were not able to stay non-lethal to all the ones that fought us. The soldiers who Amicia saved quickly got up and helped, that was when most of the deaths came. After all the enemies were either dead or returned to normal, we rested where we stood. The saved warriors thanking us, then they were immediately yelled at by Elene. She ruled these people with fear, and when they explained their reasons for turning into demon ruled soldiers she quickly beat them down. This went on until all the saved were beaten in one way or another. After she released some of her rage she came to me and said, "That's another ten of my paladins, but I had nearly a hundred. We are going to have a long day ahead of us. Next we are going to the room where they turned my fighters, there should be some being converted in there. Hopefully we can stop them in the act." After she spoke she turned and yelled for the paladins to follow her, and left without giving me the chance to say anything to her.
