Chapter 30

The tunnel leading from the depths we had come from led us to a large open room that held one lonely path into darkness. Next to the entrance to this path was a single torch and a message carved into the wall that read, "The maze of the stars holds many dangers, but if you can conquer it you will emerge anew. Awakened by the power of the stars." After looking at the others I grabbed the torch and pointed it into the tunnel. In the distance I could see that the path branched into two directions, turning back around I looked to Amicia who stood looking frightened. "My dear do not worry, we will get through this maze and make it to Calsen. This is but a small delay to our destination." I said as I walked to her and took her hand. She looked back at me with eyes full of trust and love. "Well lets get past this delay and get to your destination Lord King Slayer, standing about doesn't speed the trip." Artur said looking at me with a smirk. I nodded to him and entered the maze unknowing the terrors that lurked within.

The maze came to a quick split and I turned and asked the others which way to go, but I received a different answer from both Roan and Artur. Amicia looked at me and realized she was the deciding vote. "Left." She said without hesitation. As I looked left I saw nothing but darkness forwards, looking back at them one last time I stepped towards the left and walked on. The others stayed closely behind me as we continued this and walked deeper and deeper into the maze. we seemed to be walking in the path for what felt like hours, and we seemed to make no progress. We simply continued to come upon a path that simply branched left and right. Choosing was left up to our random decisions and it seemed to lead us nowhere. When we arrived at the next intersection I stopped and listened to their direction choices and when they decided right I turned left and walked in that direction. As soon as I stepped that direction the others began to ask what I was doing and before they could finish a wall dropped behind me.

The fire nearly blew out as the wall descended behind me, and I knew the others were in utter darkness. I heard the others yell through the wall, but it was too thick to understand what they were saying. I yelled for them to just try to find their way out and I looked forwards to see the path holding nothing before me. I walked forwards down the path that was simply straight with no twists or turns. I saw a bright light at the end of the path and I knew this was the only way out of the maze, I had doomed the others by walking this way. I stopped and looked back to see the stone wall that had separated us. A tear began to fall from my eye before I realized that my stone could cleave through the stone with no effort. Making my way back I summoned my spear and threw down the torch, I charged the wall and stabbed my spear right into the wall. It cut through with ease and I began making my own door from the solid stone. Once I had cut through I stone I had carved out and it  moved with ease. As I pushed the stone out of the way I looked in either direction to see nothing but darkness, the immediate area around me lit up by my spear. I had lost them and there was no telling how long it would take me to find them.

As I turned and began walking to the right I shouted their names, hoping that if they heard me they would come back. After a while I heard a sound of foot steps and turned to see if it was them, but I was immediately knocked off my feet and I hit the solid stone walls. As I slid down the wall I looked up to see a giant man looking beast, but upon the head of it was a bulls head and it looked enraged. On its chest was clearly printed "Taurus" branded into its skin years ago. It prepared to charge me again, but I leaped at the last second and landed on its back as it plowed through the wall of the maze. The force of the impact caused me to fall from its back and it turned to me with anger on its face. As I leaped to my feet it charged again, I lifted my spear and pointed it up towards its chest so it would impale itself. I had little to no maneuvering space to fight this beast and this was the only way to defeat it. As it charged my spear went easily into its chest, but it didn't stop charging. I was plowed through the wall with ease and it kept going through the walls. After three walls it grabbed me and threw me against a wall, letting out an enraged cry. Looking to the hole in its chest I could see straight through it, but yet the beast still lived. I felt my body broken and destroyed, there was no way I could fight this thing with such a beaten down body. As I prepared to be utterly destroyed by the beast a voice spoke into my ear, one that felt so familiar yet so new. "Kai my dear, this is not the end. You will prevail, because you must."
