SUMMER'S POV
I read the note. I was instantly sick.
There is no possible way Mr. Finn can come back unless Mrs. Calpakis gets fired or quits. My apologies to you, Miss Hathaway.
- Principal R. Mullins.I was crushed when I read this. Then came the disrespect from Mrs. Calpakis. That's when I felt the sting of tears in my eyes and the lump in my throat. Once I felt the lump, I knew I was going to cry. I folded my arms and let my tears roll down in my face into my sleeves. I let (hopefully) silent sobs come out. I was hoping that Mason would let me borrow his notes at tutoring today. When the bell rang, I didn't want to talk to anyone. I just went to the one place where I could feel safe- the library. The library was safe for me, it was quiet and a place that cultivated reading and learning. I loved it here. Being a straight A student, it wasn't hard to love the library. Plus this is where tutoring was held. I ran through the halls, somehow avoiding getting caught by Clark, and made it to the library just as the late bell rang. I made a beeline for my usual table and set by bag on the empty chair to the left of the seat I had chosen. I sat down and pulled my chair closer to the table and took out a pink sparkle spiral notebook and a black pen and mechanical pencil. I figured I would start on Friday's homework, less to do at tutoring and more for Danielle to check. Danielle was my tutor, she was a sophomore in high school here at Horace Green. She met with Mason and I every Tuesday after sixth period. She helped us with homework (not that we needed it) and checked it when we were done. She was basically there just to prevent silly mistakes. Oh, and days that we had tests to study for, she would make us flash cards and help us study. She was a big help in studying. Usually my mom didn't have time to help me, so it was nice to have someone to study with. Tutoring was an opportunity my mom jumped at. She always wanted me to be my best. She payed $50,000 a year for me to attend Horace Green. But even being a single mother, we were well off and she wasn't scraping for dollars to send me here. It was still a blessing though. Horace Green was a school of academically gifted children. Just some where more gifted than others. I was in the accelerated class. We didn't switch teachers for all hours, just for Music, French, and a special history class I took with three other kids that was supposed to be more challenging than the accelerated course. My mother really pushed me. I didn't need a tutor, but it was nice to have one. I was without a doubt the most smartest kid in my class. Zack was also very gifted, but he definitely still struggled. School came easy to me. I liked school. I was good at school.
I pulled out my history textbook and started on Fridays homework assignment. I had already finished all my other homework for the next few days, so I decided to start on Friday's assignment. Mrs. Romeo, my history teacher, gave us a sheet with all of our assignments for this semester on it. But she always added extra then what was on there. So I started on what was assigned so that I could have as least amount as homework possible over the weekend.

I finished the assignment when the lunch bell rang. So soon? I decided against going to the courtyard to eat and to just stay in the library with my packed lunch. I picked up my assigned reading book. I had just started getting into it when a lunch tray smacked down on the table."How did you find me?" I asked, taking a bite of my apple.
"I always know where to find you."

TOMIKA'S POVWalking into Ms. Mullins' office was like walking I to a lions den. I can't believe Zack just left me here to be eaten alive..... I thought we were better friends than that!
"Please Tomika, sit." She ordered. I followed her orders and sat down softly in a chair across from her desk. She sat down behind her desk across from me. "Care to tell me what happened?" She asked.
