I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous.

Tony.

I was bathing Madison when my phone rang in the living room.

I wrapped Madi in a towel and put a diaper on her before rushing, grabbing my phone, and rushing back to the bedroom.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Tony, it's me." Marisa said.

"Hey." I said.

"I need to really talk to you, do you have a minute?" She asked.

"I'm a single dad, I barely have a minute for myself Marisa, but what's on your mind?" I asked.

"It's Michelle." She said.

"Marisa, I don't want to hear it, I'm through with her. I've had more than enough of her shit." I said.

"She almost killed herself last night. Vic caught her in the middle of trying to overdose and stopped her. She told him that she feels like she doesn't have any purpose without you and Madison. I'm not telling you this as a pawn to get you back with her, I just want you to know, that if she gets left alone and she kills herself, it's your fault."

Then she hung up on me.

I dressed Madi and fed her and after I'd laid her down for a nap, I thought about what Marisa had said.

Michelle really hadn't done anything wrong, she'd just voiced her opinion.

I took things too far by kicking her out.

I looked at the clock, that told me it was three fifteen here, and four fifteen in California.

I picked up the phone and dialed Michelle's number, but instead of her soft sweet voice, I got a cold anamatronic recorded voice, "The number you have dialed has been disconnected, please check the number and try again."

I dialed her old number, it rang five times.

"Hello?" She sounded like she'd been sneezing.

"Babe, it's me." I said.

It sounded like she dropped the phone, then scrambled to pick it up, "Tony?" She asked.

"Yeah. I'm calling to apologize. I was out of line when I said those things, and I had no right to do the things I did." I said.

"I forgive you babe. But I'm not going back to New Mexico. I want to be here with my family in Cali."She said.

"You don't have to. I'm coming home. It's too hard being a single dad anyway, and I miss you. A lot. We miss you. A lot." I said.

I could tell she was crying now, "I love you Tony." She said.

"I love you too. Still be my bride?" I asked.

She sniffled, "Of course." She said.

"We'll be home probably tomorrow morning. I'm going to pack our little things and fly home." I said.

"I'll be here waiting for you guys. Give my baby a kiss for me." She said.

"I will. I love you." I said.

"Love you too." She said.

Michelle.

As soon as I'd hung up with Tony, I cleaned up the bathroom and the rest of the house and called everyone I could think of to tell them the great news.

I tried to hide the alcohol on my breath when everyone came over for the big homecoming party.

Everyone was going to decorate the house and we were all going to have a slumber party so we could all be here when they got home.
