One year later.
"Bro, grab me a vente coffee." Mike called.
"Alright, I'll be right back." I said picking up my keys.
I drove out to the nearest Starbucks to fulfill our caffeine addiction.
When I walked in it was fucking packed.
"Great." I said, putting my sunglasses on and praying no adoring fans recognized me.
I stood in line, playing a game on my phone.
"Hi, can I help you?"
I looked up, "Yeah, I need four vente coffees, black." I said.
"That all?" The man asked.
"Yes sir." I said.
"$19.12" He said.
I paid and turned to walk to the table and wait for our coffee.
I bumped into a woman walking in.
"Shit, I'm sorry." I said.
"I see you've moved on from alcohol to coffee."
I looked up, and there was Michelle, standing in front of me.
I smiled back weakly.
"Yeah, It doesn't give you a hangover." I said.
She laughed, "Still got that sense of humor I see." She said.
"I'll never lose it." I said.
"How have you been?" She asked.
We sat at a table by the door.
"I've been alright. How have you been?" I asked.
She smiled, "Honestly Vic, I've been kicking myself for a year." She said.
I sat back against the booth and looked out the window, "Me too." I said.
She shrugged, "The only reason I even got so close to you, is because I was planning on breaking it off with Andrew since he left. I just forgot all about him when I met you, then he just showed up." She said.
"Don't you hate when they do that?" I asked with a smile.
She giggled, "Men have the worst timing. With a few exceptions." She said.
I laughed.
"So what are you doing in Los Angeles now?" She asked.
"Recording a new album." I said.
"Four vente coffees!" The kid called.
"That's me." I said getting up..
She stood too.
"It was really nice seeing you again. Take care okay?" She asked, turning to walk away.
I grabbed her hand, "Wait," I said.
She turned.
"I still have the same number. Call me sometime." I said.
She grinned, "Me too." And walked away.
I walked back into the studio.
"Hey, you're glowing." Mike said.
"Nah, just got my coffee rush on." I said shrugging.
"Bullshit, who's the chick?" Jaime asked.
"Nobody." I said sitting down.
"Liar, tell us." Jaime said.
