Michelle.

When I woke up, Adam and Madison were curled up together on the bed next to me.

I smiled and kissed the top of their heads.

I wondered where Tony was.

I eased up out of bed, covering the kids back up, and walked into the hallway.

It was very cold throughout the house, and just walking on the floor barefoot gave me chills.

"Tony." I called.

My voice echoed through the house, making it sound empty and hollow.

I shivered, and stepped lightly into the living room.

The TV was on, with the sound muted, playing Nightmare On Elm Street.

I inched closer to the couch, hoping to see Tony, but he wasn't there.

The baby, Isaiah I'm sure, kicked.

"Calm down, it's okay, Mommy's probably freaking out for nothing sweetie." I whispered, rubbing my stomach.

"Tony, you're starting to scare me." I called.

I heard a door creak, and my heart jumped to my throat.

I edged into the spare bedroom and looked around.

Vic was lying on his side, back to me, sleeping soundly.

I peered over his shoulder, and smiled.

Elizabeth was sleeping on her stomach beside him, her wild Fuentes hair sticking up in every direction.

Leaning over, the ends of long faded brown hair brushed Vic's arm, and he grunted and shifted.

I eased out of the room, closing the door quietly.

The hallway was still cold.

I walked further down the hall to the other guest room, where the door was cracked open.

"Tony." I whispered.

I opened the door and stepped in.

Jaime was lying on the bed, arm over his eyes.

"Where is Tony?" I whispered.

I turned and walked back down the hall.

I was going back to check on the kids, but when I walked through the living room, the front door was opening.

I stopped in the hallway and watched.

Tony came through the door, holding an all too familiar paper bag in his arms.

I continued to the bedroom when I heard Madison whine, "Mama."

"Is she okay?" Tony asked, slipping his hand into mine.

I turned and glared at him, "She's fine, I'm sure."

Then I yanked my hand out of his and quietly stormed down the hall.

Madison was sitting up in bed, with the comforter wrapped around her, so that her head poked out the top.

I smiled, "You okay sweetie?" I asked.

She nodded, "I was just cold." She said.

I climbed in bed, pulling her in my lap and wrapping us both in the blanket, "You warm now?" I asked.

She nodded, "Where's daddy?" She asked.

Tony walked in, "Right here sugar." He said.

I looked over at the window, watching the gentle rain fall.
