???

The sound of water lazily splashing against marble filled the room. The light shining through the mosaic stain glass wall flooded the open white room with color. A woman wearing nothing but a light robe, panties and medical bandages wrapped around her chest. She sat by the small river flowing through the room her feet were folded up under her as she dipped a hand into the water letting the liquid flow around her fingers, just behind her stood a boy with vacant eyes standing in front of a bird bath filled with blood.

He stared down into the redness quietly his chest didn’t move and inch. His long blond hair hung loosely flowing down his back. The woman paid him no mind as she swished her hand around watching the small fish swim lazily around. It was as if the room was a timid paradise. Off to the side was a spiral stair case a man about the same age as the woman sat at the top staring off towards the windows thoughtfully.

“Where is she?” The woman asked without looking up. The boy spoke up after a minute of silence.

“Home,” His voice was quiet and lifeless.

  “Has he talked to her?”

  “Yes.”

“And,” The man prompted after neither had said anything else.

“She’s refused to help, I think.” The boy said. The woman stood up then and walked over to him. “You think?”

“Yes, she said never said anything straightforward.” The boy explained.

“She knows we’re listening to her.” The man said the boy continued to stare into the blood as he asked, “Does she know we can?”

“No.” The woman answered. “Shall I send someone else?” The boy asked but the woman shook her head and ran her fingers through his hair. “No, she’ll only be aggravated, we need that artifact and she’s the only one who can find it.”

“She’s a troublesome asset.” The man sighed in annoyance, “Unpredictable and a hassle to deal with. However she’s useful.” He continued. The woman nodded in agreement his brow furrowing thoughtfully. “She’s only useful until she’s not. Perhaps added a bit of incentive wouldn’t hurt.”

“Threaten to kill her?” The man inquired.

“No, it has little value here and her life means nothing to her, stop thinking like a mortal.”

“My apologies, I’ve been spending too much time with Cerberus.” A stark joyless laugh brought the man’s attention over to the woman who smirked.

“I think I may have just thought of something.” She said proudly, “Let’s pay a visit to the three headed mutt.”

 Gemini

Gemini frowned at her locker; she’d been standing in front of it for the past four minutes just staring. She really didn’t know how to make heads or tails of it. A small white corner of a note was sticking out of the bottom grate standing out starkly against the pale yellow of the paint like a bad omen. Gemini realized people were beginning to stare so she twisted in her combination and opened it.

The letter slipped from the locker and Gemini caught it before it dropped to the floor. The letter was a delicate peach color with a real wax seal of blood red. Turning it over in her hand her name was the only thing scribbled onto the front in black ink. Gemini tilted her head and frowned again, she really didn’t know what to do. Her first thought was a newsletter but those are always tapped to lockers and end up everywhere. She figured she was being pranked next but was too nervous to open the damn letter to find out what it said.
