Chapter 17

I was awake before Nex got up. What got me up was an odd vibration in the air. As I was about to sit up, I felt as if something very heavy was pressing down on me, trying to push air out of my lungs. I was only able to say one word, and even then, it was only a whisper and no more. That word was 'NEX'.

My mind just so happened to touch his as my mind began to go dark.

I felt myself being shaken. "Baby! Wake up! I need you to wake up!" My eyes felt as if a ton of bricks were strapped to each eyelid. And the ton of sat on my chest, making me battle for every breath I took. "Thats it baby! Open those beautiful eyes for me."

When my eyes opened fully and when my eyes connected to my mate's the one ton weights disappeared as if they were never there to begin with. "Nex?" My voice was hoarse.

"Yes, it's me. I had to put a dampening spell on you. So no magic can get through." Nex looked stressed.

"A dampening spell? What happened?" I asked, my mind didn't seem to process all that well.

"A spell was put on you! Not me. So the spell-caster needed to have something linked to you! We need to keep you safe! We need to keep this spell working. I could link it in to our pack, so the pack link acts as a power source but also as a conductive source. The dampening spell would branch out and encompass all of our pack and protect them too. So we would need a pack doctor. I think we would need get about six, this would be to every pack ground around the world."

"Six pack doctors per pack? Why would we need that much?" I asked.

"Call it a hunch. I know many would want to kill this pack off. I want this time around to work, so I will protect all my pack. I failed before, but I would not fail now." Nex was angry, but sad also.

"What are you talking about?" I asked him, a distant bell ringing in back of my mind.

"I can hear that bell tinkling away in the back of your mind. Your past life is starting to come through. The places of where your grandmother purchased was where the branches of the pack that were killed off because they were stronger than all the rest of the packs. Because the other packs worshipped other gods, while the packs that were killed off, worshipped me."

That's when I was finally able to put the pieces together. But it was as I did so, that my mind decided I needed more sleep.

~~~~~
The next morning, I had a good morning. My wheelchair was padded, almost in an overstuffed fashion, but either way, it was still bloody comfortable. I was also being fussed over which was good to begin with, but I knew my temper was going to be shortened drastically!
I wheeled myself around, and I had a desk set up for me. The children were taken care of, and yet they still cried and fussed for me. So much so, that it became a routine. Every nap-time, sleepy-time, they would come to me and get put to sleep, then the girls would put them into their cribs. I had to tell them who goes where to begin with, but they scented the kids and put it all together in there minds.
At the table, I began to organize what I would do. Nex had loaned me his laptop, the one with access to a satellite, with photographic capacity. I had the satellite take images from the general are of where the last Antarctic pack was located. Along with longitude and latitude, location wise.
It was also where I had formulated a form, a 'Get to know you' kind of thing. It would be used to see where they would like to go, in which region and such.
I wrote notes, so that I could keep up with my idea as they come to me.
My meals were made for me, so all I needed to do, was figure out where all my other buildings would go. I was also wondering where all the wood would go. Because all the homes had a fireplace. Which I believe would be in good use.
I had the satellite take photographs of the other grounds and I had a photograph taken of our newest pack grounds. I compared the two photos and that's when my mind realized something. Each and every location, it was built in the exact same lay out as how I would want it.
So I printed out all the photos taken via satellite and I had it all packed away in a Manilla file after I wrote, not only the coordinates, but also the continental location along with some other stuff on the back of each and every photograph.
The Antarctic one though, was just though, was just shells of what used to be homes. That got me thinking. So I thought of how I could do portable homes that would be label to be lifted and placed as it's owners so chose to have it. But it was as I was thinking about it all, that Nex had come home.
I told him of what I wanted to do, but I just didn't know how to do it. That's when he clued me in on possibilities. But I loved the idea of the shipping crates. They were movable, they were known to be made into mobile labs and they could be bolted together and lined with insulation.
So many possibilities were thought up as I was put to bed that night, Nex needed to finish up as much work as he could, but I gave him until midnight, to do it. Then my eyes closed, and dreams invaded my mind. Dreams that felt to real to be coincidental.
I wonder what they mean?
