Ellington's POV
"I think I like you." I whispered. The second I said it I second guessed myself. Was it really the right time or place to tell her that? In the middle of a big city in the middle of the night. I prayed that she wouldn't freak out like she said she wouldn't. I backed away from her ear slowly. Rydel's hair smelled like vanilla and flowers, just like it always did. The look on her face told me that she was definitely surprised at what I had just told her.
"Oh." She whispered. She had that same shocked look on her face that she did every time she wasn't expecting something. Rydel blinked her big brown eyes hard and stared at me like a little puppy. "Really?" She started to smile.
I laughed. She was so cute. "Yeah." I looked at the parking space lines on the ground and smiled. I noticed that one of them was leading right towards her, exactly where I wanted to be. Boston was so cold tonight. For a moment, I regretted giving Rydel my jacket, but she looked too cute in it to take away from her. Whenever she wore something of mine, it was always a few sizes too big and didn't quite fit right, but she made it look just right.
Suddenly, everything was quiet. The cars that drove by a few seconds before were long gone. It was just me and her in the middle of Boston. The lights from Fenway had turned on and lit up her face. Her brown eyes looked like the most amazing things I'd ever seen. I couldn't take just standing here looking at her anymore. I took one step forward and put my hands on her waist. My nose nearly bumped into hers, but it didn't matter. Suddenly, I was closer to her than I'd ever been before, and I didn't want to be anywhere else.
