Rydel's POV

Ellington held onto my hand as if he were taking me to the most wonderful place on earth. With him, and this city, I was more than sure it would be the next best thing. Ellington's fingers were intertwined with mine and it felt like the greatest thing in the whole world. The air was cold, but his hands were warm.

"Close your eyes." Ellington said. He spun me around and covered my eyes with his hands.

"What is it?" I asked, slightly stunned. I wasn't sure what could be so special about where we were. All I remember was a bunch of brick buildings and cafes. Central park was across the street, but what could be so special about the park?

"Okay, open up." He took his hands away from my face and I opened my eyes. It was Central Park, but a million times more beautiful that I could've ever imagined. The Christmas lights were thrown onto all of the trees and lined the paved paths. I'd never seen New York City at Christmas time, and Ellington knew that.

"Ellington." I gasped, completely awestruck. For any one else, this might've been nothing out of the ordinary, but I had a thing for New York City, and Christmas. I remembered talking to Ellington a million times about wanting to see all the lights a million times. He remembered. I'd always mention how it was my dream to go ice skating in Central Park and act like I was in some sort of romantic comedy. The girl who falls in love, breaks up with him, and falls even deeper in love after seeing him across the way and embracing him like he'd been gone forever. Suddenly I realized, that's what it was. I looked at Ellington, exciting showing on my face. "We're not going," I began. He nodded and gave me one of his signature smiles. "Ellington!" I threw my arms around him before grabbing his hand and pulling him across the street. Skating in Central Park may sound like the most cliche date in the world, and it kind of is, but I'd been wanting to do this my entire life, and Ellington knew that. I knew this wasn't his first choice, but he was willing to do anything for me. I'd never felt more grateful to have him than I did at that very moment.
