Ellington's POV

I felt my heart start racing when Rydel opened the door. She looked even better than I remembered. I could smell her vanilla perfume. The smile on her face told me that she wasn't expecting to see me here outside of her door. She thought that I'd be hanging out with the boys.

"Ready?" I smiled and held out both of my hands. One was for her to hold, and the other was holding the rose that I'd walked 3 blocks to get her. I didn't mind. I would've walked 3 miles to see her smile like she was right now.

"Of course." Rydel replied. She grasped my hand and walked out of the room. It was the greatest feeling in the world to be holding her hand like this. I led her to the elevators where I pressed the button and we waited for the doors to open. When the bell made a "ding" sounds and the doors slid open, I was surprised to see Ryland walking out of the elevator.

"Have fun, I've got it all covered." He said proudly. He came closer to me. "You have until 11," He said quietly so Rydel wouldn't hear. "And by the way, she's still my sister, so watch yourself." Ryland tried to sound tough, but then smiled. I patted his shoulder and led Rydel into the elevator.

"Um, Ell." Rydel whispered. She sounded slightly nervous.

"Yeah?" I replied.

"I've never actually been on a da-" she started.

"I know." I laughed. I saw the worry on her face melt away. "Will you, Rydel Lynch, allow me, Ellington Ratliff, to take you on your very first date?" I held onto her hand with both of mine and playfully got down on one knee. Rydel turned her head away in a fit of giggles. Her nose was all scrunched up like it was whenever she started laughing. I thought I was the cutest thing she could ever do. I took her giddy reaction as a yes. The elevator door opened and a woman stepped inside. She smiled when she saw me on one knee.

"Oh my goodness!" She yelled. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything!"

I stood up and laughed. "Not at all! Not yet anyways." I looked at Rydel and gripped her hand a little tighter. The door opened again on the first floor and we walked towards the street. There were a million yellow cabs and town cars all over. I waited to cross the street, and we both ran towards the sidewalk on the other end.

"Where are we going?" Rydel asked.

"You'll see." I replied.
