Ellington's POV
The look on Rydel's face when I told her where we were going was even better than I expected. She told me a few weeks ago that she'd always wanted to go ice skating in central park. Her brothers grew up playing hockey, so she loved skating, but she's never been in a place like this. She said that she wanted to drink overpriced hot chocolate and struggle to avoid bumping into people. I didn't really get it, but if it would make her happy, it would make me happy. Rydel pulled me across the busy New York City street to get to the park. She was practically skipping down the path slightly pulling on my hand to hurry up. When we got to the rink, I got our rental skates and in just a few minutes she was dragging me onto the ice. For someone who hadn't skated in almost 4 years, I wasn't too bad. I kept my balance enough to keep up with her, actually, she was the one struggling. Rydel helf onto my arm as her feet slid back and forth underneath her. I tried not to laugh every time I had to catch her before she fell down. As much as she was struggling, she looked like she was having the time of her life. It made me more than happy to see her like this. If there were a million things that made her smile like that, I would've done them all. Once she had had enough of sliding across freezing ice, we sat on one of the benches outside of the rink. She got her overpriced hot chocolate, just like she wanted, and I got to see her perfect smile.
"What?" She laughed when she realized that I was abviously staring at her.
"Nothing." I replied. I watched Rydel spill some of her drink onto the front of her shirt and tried not to laugh. I looked at my phone for the time. 10:36. It would take us at least 15 minutes to walk back to the hotel and a few more to get out of the park. "We should get going."
"Already?" Rydel looked slightly upset.
"If we're not back before 11, your parents might worry." I gave her a half smile and took her hand.
When we got to the hotel, I walked Rydel to her room.
"This was really fun." Rydel giggled. I was about to respond, until I heard the elevator doors open and Ross and Rocky stepped out. Rydel saw them too and turned to go into her room. I grabbed her arm and pulled her back. As quickly as I could, I pulled her in by her waist and kissed her. The second I pulled away she backed into her room and I ran across the hall to mine. This secret was getting harder and harder to keep, and I wasn't sure how much longer I could keep it.
