Rydel's POV
I felt my entire body freeze up. His hands were on my waist and his lips were pressed against mine. I was having my first kiss. He felt the same way about me that I did about him, and now he was showing it. I could've settled with a smile and his arms around me, but I got something so much better. He was giving me my first kiss just seconds after the first boy who'd ever liked me had admitted it. My mind was a jumbled up mess of thoughts, until I was snapped back into reality. Ellington stepped back, but kept his hands on my waist.
"I-," I tried to manage words but he stopped me.
"Shhh." He put his finger over my lips and laughed.
I smiled wider than I ever had before. Here I was in the middle of the sidewalk, about to leave Boston, when he had just given me a reason to absolutely love this very spot for the rest of my life. The dark sky that made the streetlights light up his face, the old concert hall behind us, everything.
"Rydel!" I hear someone yell from the bus. My heart nearly sank.
I never wanted to leave this spot, I wanted to stand here and stare into his hazel eyes forever.
"We should go back." Ellington whispered. He looked just as upset as I did. He took my hand, and my heart started to flutter again. It was all amazing, until we stepped back on the bus. He dropped my hand slowly and walked towards my brothers.
"What took you guys so long?" Ross asked. He was slightly distracted by his phone.
Ellington looked back at me, struggling to come up with an excuse.
"Ellington couldn't remember if he'd gotten his bag out of the venue, so were just checking." I scrambled for a reason. My brothers seemed to buy it, thank god. If they'd known what Ell and I were actually doing outside, they'd lose it. Not in an aggressive or angry way like most older, and younger, brothers would. They'd just be utterly shocked. I was usually thought of as 'one of the boys' but apparentally Ell didn't think so anymore.
"It's late, we should probably go to sleep." Riker said. He stood up and walked towards the back of the bus.
"Sure." I responded. The entire time I was on the bus, I had to try especially hard to hide the smile on my face. At times, I forgot it was even there. It wasn't until Ryland pointed it out.
"What are you so happy about?" He asked, suspicious.
"Nothing." I tried to hold back my giddiness, but he saw right through me.
Once I was changed into something that I could sleep in, I crept into my bunk and closed my eyes. All I could think about was Ellington and the best, and only kiss, I'd ever had. I thought about all the times he'd made me laugh until my stomach hurt or made me smile wider than anyone could. My thoughts were perfect, until I heard someone whisper my name. It was so quiet I almost didn't hear. I opened my eyes to see the hazel eyed cutie that filled my head.
"Hey," He whispered. "tonight was perfect."
I smiled. I wanted to say something back, but I was sure the look on my face said it all. He was just tall enough to see me on the top bunk. I was close to the edge so I could hear him. He looked towards the door to the front of the bus and smiled. He gave me a small kiss.
"Goodnight, Rydel." He whispered and went back to his bunk.
