I watched all these girls running past me. I wanted to ask what was going on but they were on a mission. My eyes followed the crowd of people. Then my own curiosity took over. I didn't pretend like I was one of them I just simply followed them all. As I followed for a while I ran into a crowd. The running had come to a complete standstill. I maneuvered my way through the crowd and found myself looking at a mess of buses. While looking I saw people popping in and out from in between them. The crowd would roar in screams when certain figures appeared.
I began to study the people the crowd seemed to be completely captivated by. I saw a group of 4 guys, the 4 guys that caused all the commotion, walking toward the group. I instantly tried to find my way out but I was stuck. I was engulfed in this crowd of screaming people wondering what I had just got myself into. I still hadn't figured out who these men were. I heard names being called, I assumed it was there's but I guess I couldn't really know for sure.
"Hey guys." One of them spoke. The accent wasn't like ours. They definitely weren't from America. As they spoke the crowd calmed down. It's like this spoken rule to calm down when someone who's famous is around. The calmer you are the more likely you are to get something from it. I'm saying this like I knew they were famous but it was fully me just assuming.
"We see you've found us." The crowd let out a woo. I covered my ears fully wishing that my curiosity hadn't taken over.
These boys stood in front of the small crowd of people and talked. It was like a mini meet and greet. There was no other option than for these boys to be famous. I mean I didn't see any reason why they wouldn't be famous they were all pretty damn attractive. I began to pay attention to everyone around. Focused on words and not my surroundings I hadn't realized the crowd had begun to spread. The shoulder to shoulder action had become breathable space. So as the crowd dispersed it left me standing there alone in the open.
"Hey." I felt a tap on my shoulder causing me to jump. In the panic of realizing the crowd began to thin I had lost sight of the 4 boys. When I turned around I was face to face with one of them. He looked different than the rest. His hair was vibrantly white, if white can be vibrant. He looked at me with a big smile.
"Hi." I said quietly.
"I saw you were covering your ears, not your thing huh?"
"Screaming girls? No, not my thing."
"Don't know who were are do you?"
"I mean I assume you're famous." I shrugged. "Curiosity killed the cat on this one. And by the cat I mean my ear drums."
"You think that's bad? Show up to one of our concerts, it's 100 times worse."
"So you're a band?" I looked him up and down. "Guitarist?"
"How can you tell?"
"Can't. I'm just a good guess. So I'm going to take that as I'm right?"
"Kind of. I also play piano and sing. And have played bass. I mean we all just do it all."
"Brag why don't ya?"
"I mean I do what I can. I'm no Luke Hemmings." The name kind of sounded familiar. I mean I probably heard it on the radio or tv or something of the sorts. I gave him a look as though I was confused. His hand pointed in the direction of one of the other 3. The tall blonde, real blonde, not like his.
"And you?"
"Michael."
"Indie. Nice to meet you Michael. Also would like to say, you don't have to be a 'Luke Hemmings' think you're pretty damn awesome the way you are."
"Thanks."
"I'm not one to scream and drool over a guy but I'd have to say I would have picked you as my favorite if I was into all of that." He smiled but didn't say anything. "I think you should go back to meeting people who really know who you are. It was nice meeting you famous Michael." I smiled and joked.
"Nice meeting you Indie." I walked over and sat on a bench and watched him walk off and meet people. They seemed to talk with their fans for hours. I didn't really know famous people to be like that. It was nice to see someone doing it. While I watched I also did a bit of research. There was Ashton, Calum, Luke and Michael. They were in the band 5 Seconds of Summer also known as 5SOS. I realized I knew a few of the songs. I didn't want to dig too deep so I just stopped after figuring out the basics.
All the fans had left and the boys were heading back to their bus. I got up to get on with my boring day when I saw Michael running over. "Do you have plans for tonight?" He asked as he reached me.
"A lot of boring ones that include me sitting at home watching tv."
"Any interest in having your cat killing curiosity take over for a few hours?"
"Cat killing or ear drum killing?"
"I mean if we're being technical now, it will probably be ear drum killing."
"Because of how bad you are or the fans?"
"Honestly? Probably both."
"I'm down to hear some sucking." I smiled but then quickly realized how awful that sounded. "Shit I didn't mean it like that." I shook my head.
"I mean if you're offering." He joked.
"Total groupie here." I pretend danced. "Down for all the dick sucking because I want attention." I shook my head.
He pretended that he was going to pull me off to a secluded area to begin the sucking. It caused the both of us to laugh. It was weird to meet a genuine person with such a following. Not only have that but to have him randomly asked someone to join him. I didn't know if this was something they did often but it was different.
We caught up with his friends, the rest of the band. "Guys this is Indie." I waved at them.
"Infamous Luke Hemmings." I pointed at Luke and then looked at Michael. "His words not mine. Ashton and Calum." I said looking at the other two. "I did some research."
"You know the rules Michael. We aren't supposed to invite people anymore."
"Free dick sucks." I joked. It made Michael laugh. "Kidding." I said after they all made faces at my comment. "Honestly if I'm not allowed no big deal. Keeping my ear drums might be a better idea anyways."
I thought about the one with dark hairs response, his name was Calum. It was like it was something they had done so often that action had to be put in place. Not that it mattered to me because I didn't care about them as a band or really as people.
"We could gain a fan out of this." Michael said to the guys.
"Probably not." I chimed in. "Remember not one to scream and drool over a bunch of men. Not my thing. Like the music? Maybe."
"You realize the shit you'll start by being seen with a girl right?"
"Not interested." Again I voiced my opinion. I explained to the 3 others how I ended up here in the first place. "I mean I guess crazy girls won't understand that. I forgot I don't think like them."
It felt as though Michael was the one to get walked over and overruled. I didn't want to say anything about it though. I just watched the conversation happen. The 4 spoke while I stood there listening.
"Hey listen. I don't want you guys like fighting over this. I don't even care to be here. I came because I was asked. But if it's like against the rules or whatever. As I said no big deal. It was nice meeting all of you. I'm just going to go do what I had planned instead. Don't fret." I smiled and walked over and gave Michael a hug. "Thanks for inviting me rule breaker. Play awful. Suck hard." I laughed quietly to myself. I thought I was hilarious.
I went to leave after giving hugs to the others. It was in my nature to give hugs. They all hesitantly gave me hugs back.
"Fuck it." The tall blonde said. "She's staying."
"I mean I was all mentally prepared to go get naked and watch tv and now I have to lose my ear drums. Great." I played. Sarcasm was my best friend and I think they were all beginning to learn that.
"We're not stopping the first part. If you want to get naked and watch us we're all down." The very cheeky statement left the drummer's mouth, his name was Ashton. I had learned it from my research.
"Very funny."
We all headed to their dressing room. I was stopped by what seemed like every security guard there was. It got to the point where Michael handed me his pass so I wasn't stopped. I felt privileged to be backstage fulfilling every fangirl's dream. At the same time I felt guilty. It should be a girl who cares about them in my position, not the way it was.
While in their dressing room their opening acts stopped by. I guess they were all super close friends. I was introduced and the guys were questioned. I wanted to explore. It's what got me here in the first place.
"Am I going to be stuck in this room all night?" I questioned standing by the door which was slightly opened. I was peaking outside of it watching people pass by. "Or can I go explore?"
"You have 5 minutes." Calum said. "Use it wisely." He pulled up a timer on his phone so I thought he was being serious. I went to run out of the door when the room broke out in laughter. I stopped and turned to look at them.
"Using my own powers against me. Good one." I looked at him. "On a real though, can I?"
"For all we know you could be a crazy reporter making things up. No going alone."
"I'm hiding my camera in my vagina. Guys I'm a crazy reporter you caught me." I put my hands up like they had caught me red handed. "I'm going to pull it out and film all your darkest secrets. All the behind the scenes."
"Check her!" Luke joined in with my sarcasm. I got on the floor and spread my legs. I felt like a complete idiot. But I'd never see them again after today so I had no reason to hold back.
"Get it out guys." I looked down at my crotch. I mean I had on shorts and everything so I wasn't giving them a show. It was all just big jokes.
Michael got down and pretended like he was pulling things out. I couldn't with the humor. I was holding my stomach from the laughs.
"You were all right. She was hiding a camera. I can't believe I was played for information."
"Information? Oh shit guys Michael's name is Michael! I'm the best reporter in the world. Come on now I want to explore. It's what got me here in the first place. You can't expect me to sit here acting like I would at home."
"Naked on your bed watching tv?" Calum added.
"Exactly. Definitely not going to sit here naked."
"She explores, we all explore." Ashton spoke.
I had won the battle. I was very persuasive and normally got what I wanted. I mean I didn't expect to persuade a bunch of famous musicians. I wasn't like most of the girls they met so they probably gave in for that reason.
We wandered the halls of backstage. I was getting lost in my curiosity. My mind was running wild with exploratory nature. I found myself lastly standing on a stage that they would be performing on. I looked out mesmerized by their confidence. To stand on a stage looking at the thousands of seats was quite overwhelming. I didn't know how anyone had the courage to get out there and do something like that. I couldn't even get up on a stage and say my name to 100 people at school that I had known my whole life. They did it to thousands of people they didn't know almost every night.
"This is quite incredible." I gazed at my surroundings. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that these 4 people were about to fill these seats and play for an hour or so. They all just seemed so normal.
"What you expected?"
"Ask me that when it's over, the whole night. I'll have an answer for you then."
We got warning that fans would be entering the stadium soon. They had sound check to do and all the band type things. That left me alone. I had to hide to not be questioned. I wanted to see how they played and how they interacted with their fans on a stage. I stood just out of sight to watch it all.
The best part was the actual concert. The screaming was unreal. Michael was right when he said that it would be 100 times worse. It was even more than 100 times worse, I definitely lost a bit of hearing from it. They all so naturally played. It was like the music flowed through them, hard to explain really. The most mind blowing part of it all though was the crowd. Standing on the stage looking at the empty seats was one thing. Putting a face, a body, a real person in every single one of those wasn't something you could ever imagine. Seeing it first hand was astonishing, pretty much breath taking.
The boys came off stage dripping of sweat. They walked straight past me and I watched the fans slowly leave the stadium. They wanted nothing more than one more song, it read all over their bodies. It was going to be a memorable performance for me so I knew it would be the same for someone who cared for them. As the crew rushed onto the stage to tear everything down I wandered in the direction the boys took off in.
Michael was standing outside the dressing room door.
"Final verdict?"
