Michael's POV
I watched a girl walk away from me. A girl who took away all the sadness for the night. You know when you just look at someone and feel instant happiness. They just give off a captivating vibe, which is exactly what she did. What started off as an absolutely drowning day turned into an explorative night of playfulness.
I joined up with the rest of my band to meet more fans. We were going to be stuck in the stadium until traffic cleared out so we decided to do something with our time. We walked over to where I had just let her go. She was nowhere in sight, she had gotten away unquestioned, for the most part I hoped.
We sat with a small group of fans in the grass and talked. Sometimes there were plus sides if you sat to wait for a band, not always, but sometimes. They talked about how much they enjoyed the show and everything of the sorts. It was something extremely low key. It was quiet and simple which you definitely need after a show.
I saw a figure walking towards the small group of us. I was focused on it trying to figure out if a hoard of fans were going to be following it. I was surprised by the face on the figure as it reached the group.
"Does anyone have a phone I can borrow?" She held up a completely dead phone. I couldn't, we couldn't, act like we knew her. We tried not to act suspicious. We waited for one of the fans to hand over their phone. All of them were too selfish to do so. "Alright then," she glanced at each one of us, the band that is. "I'll have to walk home then. Thanks for being great people." She gave a thumbs up and started to walk away.
"Wait." Calum stood up. That made the fans jealous. They all began to offer their phones. The thought that a possible fan could get one of our numbers or anything of sorts had them regretting being so mean.
I could tell that she was laughing at their response. "I think I'll just use his phone." She grabbed Calum's phone. "Clearly it bugs you for me to use it. Next time don't be such bitches." She walked off a little to make a phone call.
"I don't understand why none of you could have offered your phones." The whole band stood up realizing we wanted nothing to do with this group anymore. "I thought we had better fans than that." Ashton said. He wasn't afraid to voice his opinion. I felt myself glancing over at the girl on the phone.
After a few minutes of pacing back and forth on the phone she walked over to the group. "Thank you. Much appreciated." She held out Calum's phone. She put on a whole act as if she hadn't just spent the whole night with us. She acted exactly as she had in the crowd, when she had no idea who we were. "What is this little," she paused making a motion to all of us, "thing about? You all friends?"
She got all the glares. Our fans looked at her like she was a complete idiot. "What?" She questioned their looks.
"How do you end up here and not know who they are?" A fan said pointing at the 4 of us.
"I don't know maybe ever thought I'm from this town? I live here. You know I'm a normal person with a normal life doing normal things." Her sass was higher than it had been all night.
"No need to give us attitude for enjoying a band." She, Indie, glanced at us.
"Band? I can see it. As for the attitude, you wouldn't get it if you weren't complete assholes." She smiled. "Have a nice night wasting your life away, loving people, falling for people, who will never love you back. Cheers." Indie looked at Luke, Ashton, Calum and I before disappearing into the darkness of the night.
"I think it's time we head back to our bus now. I think we're all a bit tired. It's been a long day." Luke said being completely uncomfortable with the situation. As much as we used to use people we hated seeing it. We had grown up and could not stand seeing it happen to people.
The fans tried to apologize to get us to stay but we wanted nothing to do with it. We went to our bus to head to hotel for the night. We had 2 days off and we all wanted nothing more than to sleep in real beds for the night.Indie's POV
I wandered towards my car when I realized my keys were gone. I had lost them somewhere throughout the day, or locked them in the car which I was notorious for. I looked at my phone to call my parents to have one of them pick me up but my phone was dead. I didn't know what else to do but walk back to the stadium so I did. I looked down to realize that I had forgotten to hide Michael's pass. I quickly took it off and threw it in my back pocket. Surely no one would realize it there.
As I made my way back to the stadium in the dark I saw a crowd of people sitting in the grass so I decided to approach. When I got closer I realized all the guys were sitting there as well. I put my acting face back on as I came into the light. I had no idea who they were.
"Does anyone have a phone I can borrow?" I held up my completely dead phone. I knew that the 4 guys wouldn't offer. They couldn't offer their phones to a 'complete stranger' who could get their number and leak it. I looked at all girls waiting for one of them to offer but selfishly they didn't. "Alright then," I glanced at Michael, and then the rest of the guys. "I'll have to walk home then. Thanks for being great people." I pulled the most sarcastic tone I could. I wasn't in the mood for fake bitches only there to try and fuck them. Not that it mattered to me. I just don't think people should use others. With no help I gave a thumbs up and started to walk away.
"Wait." I heard one of the band say. I still couldn't tell whose voice was whose so I turned around to see Calum standing up. His hand reached towards me with his phone in it. Their fans hated it. It's what they got for not having manners. It was like jealousy ran through their bones but at the same time they realized they fucked up. They tried to cover how awful they were as people by trying to now offer their phones. I laughed at how stupid they now looked.
"I think I'll just use his phone." I grabbed Calum's phone. "Clearly it bugs you for me to use it. Next time don't be such bitches." I walked off a little to make a phone call.
I heard the guys talking to the fans. I assumed they told them how awful they acted. I just couldn't fully hear the conversation.
I pulled up his contacts page and dialed my house. I fully expected no answer being a random number but they answered.
"Hello?"
"Hi mom. Can you come get me? I either lost my keys or locked them in my car." I paced back and forth completely dreading the entire conversation.
"We have been trying to get a hold of you Indie. Why the hell haven't you answered your god damn phone?" She yelled at me.
"Mom it's dead. Hence why I'm using someone else's phone."
"Jesus Christ you always do this. You would think after your sister you would learn!"
"Can you just come get me? I'm at the stadium that 5sos just performed at. Look it up." I hung up and took a deep breath before walking back over to the group. I knew she would come get me or send my dad to do it. I just wasn't ready for the lecture.
"Thank you. Much appreciated." I said holding out Calum's phone. "What is this little," I paused making a motion to all of them, "thing about? You all friends?"
I clearly knew the answer. I just wanted to make sure no suspicion was had. I had to have all my bases covered. The comment gave me such awful glares. It felt like my soul was being burned through. They genuinely thought I was an idiot for not knowing them, like I have been living under a rock or something.
"What?" I questioned their looks. I played everything up so well.
"How do you end up here and not know who they are?" One of their fans asked me while pointing at the band.
"I don't know maybe ever thought I'm from this town? I live here. You know I'm a normal person with a normal life doing normal things." I threw jabs at the girls who clearly thought they were better than everyone else. I hated people like that. So they were going to get a mouth full from me.
"No need to give us attitude for enjoying a band." I wanted nothing more than to grab this girl by her hair and rip it all out but violence was never the answer. So I put my sweet but major bitch pants on. I glanced at the boys seeing if they were hearing the conversation the same way I was.
"Band? I can see it. As for the attitude, you wouldn't get it if you weren't complete assholes." I smiled. "Have a nice night wasting your life away, loving people, falling for people, who will never love you back. Cheers." I looked directly at Luke, Ashton, Calum and Michael for a silent goodbye before disappearing into the darkness of the night.
I glanced back once I was out of sight. I saw the boys leaving and I knew they felt as much hatred for those girls as I did. I sat on the curb under a street light waiting for one of my parents to pick me up. It took 20 minutes before one of them actually showed up.
"What are you doing way out here?"
"I saw people and curiosity took over I followed and ended up here. I ended up doing a lot of shit I'm sorry. I didn't plan on being here all night it just happened."
"Oh I'm sure."
"Mom stop. I am 20 years old I am an adult and can do as I please."
"Then learn how to act like an adult and be responsible."
"I was responsible! I could have slept with the band tonight that performed here. But did I? No. So stop trying to treat me like I'm a fucking awful person." I shook my head.
"Once you learn to be responsible and act like an adult maybe I'll start treating you better."
"Love how my mom could care less if I'm okay. Just constantly comments on how much of an awful person I am. I love my life." I put my head on the glass of the car window and closed my eyes as she drove home. I drowned out the rest of the night with alcohol. Which I would fully regret the next morning when I had to be up for work.
