"Well my ears aren't bleeding."
"I thought I'd find you covered in it."
"On a real, quite breathtaking. As much as I hated the screaming, pretty sure I've lost some hearing, it's quite indescribable really."
"So we sucked pretty hard?"
"Sucked as much as one can suck. Your fans though, enjoyed the hell out of it."
"Thanks for coming."
"I mean I did miss out on some boring tv time. I don't know how I can forgive myself for missing out on such great tv shows." I shook my head. "I'm heart broken." I smiled. "You're welcome though."
"Hang out for a bit longer? Don't want you stuck out there with screaming girls, your favorite."
"Only if you shower. Don't appreciate the smell of sweat." I wrinkled my nose.
The other 3 already had a head start. I sat outside their dressing room while they showered. I pulled out my phone which was nearly dead.
@FarFromIndie: As much as curiosity can kill the cat, it can also take you on great adventures.
@YourGirlKate: @FarFromIndie what did you get yourself into this time?
@FarFromIndie: @YourGirlKate if only you knew. Can't tell anyone though. Not even you. Secrets.
@YourGirlKate: @FarFromIndie secrets from your best friend?
@FarFromIndie: @YourGirlKate sorry. Love you Kate xx kisses
Kate was my best friend. She wasn't a Katie or a Katelyn or any version of the name she was a simple Kate. We met freshman year in high school. Fortunately for her she got out of the shit town we grew up in for college. Fortunately for me I went to college for a year a few hours away before dropping out. Unfortunately for me college wasn't for me so I was stuck back in our shit town. I wasn't lying when I said I wouldn't tell her either. There was no way in hell she was finding out the incident that occurred tonight.
"Nice Wi-Fi name." I heard behind me causing me to jump.
"Warn me next time you talk Jesus Christ." I put my hand to my heart.
"Kates a fucking whore. First off who's Kate and why is she a whore?"
"How do you know it's mine?"
"You're the only one in range whose Wi-Fi we don't already know."
"She's my best friend. Hers' is Indies the biggest whore. None of her college friends get it. I guess we are the only ones who understand it really." I looked back to see who exactly I was talking to. It was Calum.
"Tweeting about how incredible we are, fangirl?" He did not just call me a fangirl.
"Reading off my phone without permission, privacy invader?" I shot back at him.
"Just saw the app, didn't read anything."
"Good. You wouldn't have any fangirling to read anyways. Don't worry not going to tell anyone I was here tonight. Nothing to worry about." I stood up.
"Prove it."
"Don't trust the new girl. I understand." I handed him my phone. "Stalk all you want. I don't have anything to hide. On social media at least." He looked at me.
"Don't even try to look at my photos. Everything is locked in folders. Only Kate knows the password to." I smiled.
"FarFromIndie. Creative. How long did that take?"
"Honestly? Too fucking long." I could see him taking logs in his head of my information. "Phone." I put my hand out. He saw all he needed too. He placed it in my hand as Michael's frame entered the doorway behind Calum.
"Ready to head out Indie?" Michael said sliding on a shirt. I paid attention to his movements as if Calum wasn't even there. I watched as his hands moved down his bare sides pulling down his shirt. I wasn't even attempting to hide the fact I was staring, watching.
"You sure it will be cleared out?" I answered snapping back to focus.
"By the time we walk to the gate it should be. I mean there might be a few people watching the buses, were we met, so we will just have to sneak."
"Then yeah I'm ready. Nice meeting you Calum." I peeked into the dressing room seeing Luke and Ashton standing there in the same way I had just saw Michael. "Nice meeting you Ashton and Luke!" I yelled into them. "Nice meet you Indie!" They yelled back as they ran over to the door.
"How'd you like it?"
"You guys did well. Honestly enjoyed the performance. Fans not so much, screaming will never be my thing, but as I said to Michael 'quite breathtaking'."
"Glad you enjoyed, really nice meeting you. Sorry about the whole thing earlier about letting you back."
"No grudges I understand rules." I smiled. "Have a nice rest of your night all of you. Good luck on the rest of your tour or whatever." I gave the 3 hugs. They deserved it after that performance. "I'll make sure to listen out for you guys. Maybe. If I remember." I joked one last time before walking off with Michael.
"Don't do too much dick sucking with him Indie!" One of them yelled as we walked away.
"I would never!"
Michael and I walked through the halls of the building. It felt like we were getting lost. Neither of us really said much. After all the performing he did and all the noise we both experienced silence was just right. As we came to the end of a hallway his voice broke the silence.
"I don't know why I asked you to come."
"I'm just so captivating."
"I mean it's something we used to do. We would find fangirls who wanted to be groupies and buy them tickets or just give them tickets and all of the sorts just to get action from them. We haven't done it in a year or so though. I didn't ask you for that reason though. I just kind of did it."
"I challenged you." I looked at him. "You aren't use to people not knowing who you are. So when you find someone who has no idea who you are, you have a need to prove yourself to them." What I said stopped him in his tracks.
"How do you know this?"
"Told you earlier I'm a good guess. That and it's something everyone faces. We all want to prove ourselves. We need satisfaction from others for our own satisfaction."
"So what's your downfall then?"
"As in what do I feel the need to prove to people?" He nodded and I thought. "I mean since dropping out of college I feel the need to prove to my parents that I'm not a complete fuck up. I mean you looking at me probably thought oh she's a 20ish year old girl probably goes to school, maybe has a job. She's very cheeky. Never would you have probably ever thought I'm off my rockers." He looked at me confused. "I'm not normal. I don't follow rules. Not really your typical 20ish year old girl fangirling over someone I will probably never meet."
"So what do you actually do?"
"Live on the streets fighting Pokémon." His eyes slightly lit up at my Pokémon reference. I pulled it from his shirt. "I live at home with my parents, work at a movie theater that I hate, and watch tv naked in my free time. Actually I sound pretty damn normal."
"Pokémon fighting would be cooler."
"Never said I was cool." We began walking again getting lost in conversation this time instead of silence. "I guess my abnormality comes with my parents. I had a lot to live up to. I failed to do so. When I told my parents I was dropping out of college they genuinely thought of disowning me. 'I was ruining my life. I would never be a Callingsworth again. I would never be able to fill the shoes of the perfect daughter.' All this bullshit but here I sit living in their house paying my own bills still a Callingsworth."
"Shit."
"I'm an independent but dependent woman who don't need college." I laughed to myself, always thinking I was funny even though I was the least bit.
"Do you regret dropping out ever?"
"Never."
"Then I think you made the right decision."
"Oh I fully made the right decision. Why sit in hell learning shit I don't care about wasting money when I could be making my own money? There is no good reason to do that."
We finally reached the doors to outside. Michael peaked his head out. There were no fans insight. So we both walked outside for a breath of fresh air. We made our way around the back fence as far away from where fans could be as possible. We neared the gate and we heard faint noises of fans causing us to pause in our tracks.
"I'm gonna sneak out. Thanks for tonight." I hugged him.
"You'll be questioned."
I grabbed my leg. "I fell down the stairs. Security pulled me back stage to get me out of the way." I pretended to limp. "The easiest way to get me out of here was through here."
"You are just quite the actress."
"Learned from the best." I looked over in the direction of noise. "Before a huge mob begins to form over there I should really get going."
"Thanks for coming Indie."
"Again, thanks for inviting me to such a shit show." I let a smile shine on my face. "Have fun for the rest of the tour or whatever." I waved as I pretended to hobble toward the gate.
"I'll try not to suck!" He yelled at me.
"I'd sure hope so." I yelled back glancing one last time in his direction before reaching the gate. He had disappeared behind the line of buses against the fence.
