The next day I took the few hour drive to meet up with the band. I wore the covenant Michael pass from the year before as I walked up to the gate. The security guard was there waiting to fend off all the fans.
"My names on the list. Indie Callingsworth." He opened the gate up for me.
"Know where you're going?"
"I'll figure it out." I smiled at him and walked off. I was going to let my curiosity take over as I looked for the guys. I was going to explore a bit while I could. There was no reason to hide things anymore. I was able to do what I once wasn't able to.
There was tons of buses that I made my way through. I wandered until I heard my name being called. I turned around to see infamous Luke Hemmings calling my name. I slowly made my way over to him.
"Welcome." He wrapped his arm around me.
"Hello." I smiled. "How'd you like dinner last night?"
"Incredible. Hidden gem." I nodded.
"No sharing it with anyone. It's my quiet place don't ruin it."
"You got it." We walked and talked until we ran into the rest of the band.
"Is Michael satisfying your needs that much?" Calum said to me as I walked over with Luke.
"Very under whelming. I keep giving him chances hoping he'll improve." I looked past Calum at Michael.
"The shade." Calum joined me looking at Michael.
"Hello to you too Indie." He shook his head with a smile.
We hung out while they prepared for the show. I mean we had hours upon hours. They still had sound check to focus on. I found myself getting lost in the moment. Time just seemed to pass so quickly. Before I knew it they were off to do sound check. Which I watched for a bit before getting lost in my own adventurous world.
I heard the noise of the sound check come to an end and made my way back to the stage. It was easier said than done but I did it. The next few hours were spent bonding again. I had another idea in mind for the night. I didn't want to find myself losing the breath taking aspect of them performing. I felt like them seeing them over and over again I would lose the specialty of it all.
As the boys made their way to the stage for the actual performance I followed. I wished them luck as they made their way into the stage. As soon as I heard the first note being sung I walked off. I walked back stage exploring once again. I was thinking about everything but nothing at the same time. I heard the music stop but the screams over everything. It was encore time. I realized that I wasn't there and began to panic. I didn't want them knowing I didn't watch but I was too late.
I made my way to the dressing room to wait for them knowing the show was coming to an end. I heard the music stop again with an eruption of screams. Within seconds the guys were entering the room covered in sweat.
Michael gave me a cold shoulder and he wiped sweat from his face with a towel. "How was the crowd tonight?"
"Great." Luke said knowing Michael was giving me the cold shoulder.
I went quiet as they all went to shower. I sighed and waited for them. Michael walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist first. I turned around when I heard him enter to the room to see him like that. I got up quickly.
"I'll leave the room." I quickly made my way over to the door as the others started to enter the room. "Sorry." I opened the door quickly and shut it behind me. I pushed my back against the wall and slid down it. I waited patiently for one of them to let me know when they were done but it didn't happen.
After what felt like 10 minutes the door finally opened with Michael standing there. He shut the door behind him but he just looked at me saying nothing. He was angry I didn't watch him.
"I didn't want to watch." I stood up and faced him. I explained how I didn't want to lose how it made me feel the first time.
"Why come them?"
"Because of earlier and now. You know I don't care about all of that." I made a hand motion in the direction of the stage. "You are incredible at your job, all of you are, and I enjoy listening and watching you, but I don't want it to get old." I fiddled with my fingers.
"I wiped my dick out for the crowd and you missed it."
A smiled appeared on both of our faces. "Once and a life time opportunity and I missed it. Shit man." I shook my head.
"Teaches you to never leave again."
"Eh kind of glad I didn't see it." I looked away for a moment trying not to laugh. "I mean if I was there I probably wouldn't have been able to see it anyways." I made a small motion with my fingers.
He grabbed my hand with his.
"Fuck you!"
"I know you want to Michael but I mean." I shrugged. "You just don't have much to work with." He placed our hands over my mouth. I laughed beneath them.
"Why do I invite you around?" He scrunched his face at me. I shrugged and moved our hands away from my mouth.
"I'm the hottest girl you've ever laid eyes on obviously." I posed causing my hand to leave his and him to laugh.
"Don't you wish?" I dropped my mouth acting as if I were offended even though I was clearly not.
The rest of night was spent just relaxing. As were the next few days. Not having to work felt incredible. Traveling around the area with the guys was fun. I mean I wasn't with them the whole time. I got to travel to cities I had never been to before. Stay in shitty hotel rooms because I don't have money for nice ones. It was a good week getting to know everyone better. There was no better way to spend my time. As the trip came to a close it was time to figure things out. Not between the both of us, Michael and I, but myself. I wanted to stay in touch. I didn't want a repeat of last year to happen again.
The boys walked off stage from their last performance I'd be there for and I gave them hugs. I normally didn't because the sweat was just unbearable. This time I felt I needed to. I left stage with them.
"Worst show yet" was the first thing I said to them.
"I mean we have to perform shitty to make you go away." Calum shot back at me. We had gotten pretty close. Not in the way Michael and I had been, it was a different type of closeness.
"Maybe I should have taken the offer up last year to kick out Luke. Maybe the show would have been better."
"We still have that video." Ashton said while Luke glared at me.
"And statement still stands. You do anything with it. No dicks."
As the night fully came to a close and it was time for me to take off for home sadness filled the air. You could just feel a heaviness about the whole situation. Michael walked me to my car which had become part of their assembly of cars and buses. I didn't want the walk to end. I wanted to get lost with him. It's not that I wanted him in that way it was just I had spent so much time with him. I had forgotten what real life was like. I didn't want to go back to it. Being focused on something other than what my real life had in store felt great. I wasn't fixated on the endless amounts of hate I was getting or the hell of work place or my parents. My head worried about one thing only and that was spending time with people I wouldn't see for months.
"It's going to be weird not seeing your stupid face tomorrow."
"It's going to be weird not waking up and spending the day with a bunch of total idiots."
"That I can agree with we are idiots. You got me there." I smiled.
"There is something I want to say though." He motioned for me to continue. "I had a good time. Even though I was stuck with you, who sucks pretty damn hard." I pointed to a bruise on my neck that closely resembled a hickey but it was totally from me being a complete dumbass.
"You suck just as hard." He tried to wink at me but we both just ended up in laughter. "But go on."
"We've grown really close and I don't want to lose this like we did last year. I don't want to stop talking with you, or any of the guys really. I have a good time with you. I don't want to lose the friendship because I like you." I paused after realizing what I said. I quickly tried to fix my sentence. "I don't mean like you like you oh my god I am embarrassing." He laughed.
"Sure you mean it like that. Also how do you expect me to talk with you?"
"Text me? Tweet me? You'll figure it out because I can't be the one doing it."
"How am I supposed to do those things?"
"Ask Calum he knows." I smiled wrapping my arms around him. "I've got to go." I said letting go getting in my car. "Bye Michael." I said before driving off. He said a goodbye back as I drove off.
I drove for hours fighting sleep. The darkness engulfed the world. No street lights lit up my road. The only thing giving off light was my head lights. I saw cars parked in my driveway as I pulled closer. No lights were on inside. I parked on the side of the road and shut my car off. The silence felt nice. I hadn't been in complete silence for so long. I closed my eyes and let everything sink in when my phone dinged.
@Michael5sos followed you.
My phone read causing me to smile. I still didn't leave my car. I held my phone in my hand with my eyes closed again. The silence put me at peace.
