We were getting ready to leave when Ryan came into Medical. He told us that we would be taking a shuttle instead of transporting.
"Some of the samples we will be getting will be a little much for carrying around and transporting. Plus, it'll be a new adventure for you guys." Ryan told us. "But since we are using a shuttle, it will take a little longer to get ready. So sit tight."
He left to help with the shuttle and Johnny walked up to me.
"Your flower is dying." I looked over at the flower. He was right. The petals had started to fray and shrivel. I frowned. "You can get another one while we are down on the planet. But put it in water next time. It might live a little longer."
I nodded and asked a question that had been bothering me for a while. "Johnny, when do we get to go to Earth?"
"Another couple of months. At least, that's when the mission ends."
I frowned again. A couple of months?
"Don't worry Reagan." Johnny put a hand on mine. "Those months will be over before you know it." He gave me a smile I couldn't help but return.
An hour later, Ryan came back, informing us that it was time to go. The rest of the kids ran to the door, while I lightly hopped off my bed. Ryan followed the others and Johnny took my hand and walked me down to Engineering.
We were led to a part of Engineering I had never been in before. It had lots of shuttles on the walls, but one was in the middle of the room. It was lined up to a huge door. The rest of the kids were already waiting at the door of the shuttle.
The shuttle was a light grey color with no windows except for the front. It was maybe ten feet tall and twenty feel wide. Simon, Ty, and Harriet were all waiting for us.
When Johnny and I arrived, Ryan ordered that the kids be let in first. "Safety precautions," he said.
I was the last one on, out of the kids. When I cleared the doorway, the door slammed shut. Almost immediately, Simon, Ty, Harriet, Ryan, and Johnny started banging on the door. They were shouting our names and and Ryan was ordering the door be opened. But none of that scared us. Or had us rooted in our spots.
The cause of our fear, at that moment, were the people in the pilot and copilot seats.
The one in the pilot seat turned around. "Hello children. Miss me?" Jake Conan sneered. The kids gasped.
The copilot spoke out then. "I hope they did Conan. Because, oh boy, did I miss them."
Everyone went rigid. We knew that voice anywhere.
Dr. Forman turned around. "Hello my dear experiments. I've missed you."
