Chapter 28

I was escorted back to the mountain side and chained again. The others looked at me. They knew I still had my powers.

"Ryan and them are coming in about two days. I bought us some time but only for a day. I'm going to need help for the rest of time unless I can contract Ryan and ask him to hurry." I informed them. They stared it me blankly. "I'm getting you all out of here. Even if it's the last thing I do. You all are getting out of here." They nodded slowly.

They didn't question how I bought us time. I hadn't told them about Dr. Forman's plans. I couldn't bring myself to do it. They already had a lot on their plates. I didn't want to add anything else.

I decided to try and contact Ryan again and tell him to hurry.

'Ryan? I don't know if you can hear me, but I need you to hurry. We need you to hurry.'

'Reagan!' Ryan shouted. 'I'm so happy to hear your voice.'

'Ryan! I could say the same to you.'

'We're almost there kiddo. Just hang on. We're about two days out.'

'I know. Dr. Forman told me. But I need you to hurry. I bought us a day of time and I don't know how long I can slow them down after that.

'How did you buy time?'

'Long story short, Dr. Forman is creating a mutant army and he wants me to be the general. He gave me a day to think.'

'Well, if we hurry, we could be there in about a day.'

'Great. Oh, and Ryan?'

'Yeah?'

'Be prepared to fight. Dr. Forman has got quite a few men here.'

'Thanks for the heads up kiddo. Get some rest. We'll be there before you know it.'

And with that, he was gone. I don't know how, but it felt like a type of pressure was released from my head.

Instead of sleeping, I stared at the night sky. There were hundreds of stars scattered across the blackness. I thought I even saw the Galaxy ship up in the sky. And for some odd reason, I felt calm. For the very first time since we had been kidnapped I felt at peace.

Ryan and them we're coming. We would all be safe and see Earth and have a normal life.

Oh, how wrong I was.
