22 - SWEET GOODBYE

"What are you thinking?!" Greg shouted. "Leaving for Australia tomorrow!? Are you insane!?" He added. He looked really pissed with what I did.

"Are you trying to be your sister!? Trying to be a hero and show them again that i'm the villain!?"

"I don't belong here anymore! If you want me to keep investigating, then you do it! Act like a student, change your personality and lie to everyone!" I answered back. I don't care if he gets mad as long as i'm telling him what I really feel.

"Besides i'm already expelled, I can no longer do serious investigations!" I added.

"You're not thinking straight huh!? Don't leave! You're gonna be the heir of our company!" He said.

"Plus, you're not yet finished investigating your mom! You never got the chance to get close to her!"

"After all these!? You still care about the company!? Gosh Gregory, you have some serious issues!" He then slapped my face again. I know i'm going to get one by answering too much. If only he knew how far I am right now in my investigation. I never told anything about it because he have so many schemes and I'm scared what he'll do next if he finds out that i'm already sure about it.

"I'm doing this for all of us!"

"What? Do you think it will bring us all happiness!? No! Money! Money and fame are the two things you just want!" I said. I want to go away now. I want to just stop caring about something. I want to be numb.

After a few minutes of silence, he finally spoke, but this time, he's calm and serious.

"Okay. You can do what you want. Just promise me one thing." He said. "What?"

"You'll return here and take over our business." He said. Why does his business is so important?

"No, I have my own plans-"

"Do this for your mom will you" He said. Why? Why do I need to do this for her? I bet she's not happy with what's happening in the family right now. Suddenly, my phone started ringing and it's Raphael.

"Mrs. Green's looking for you! You should get back here!" He said. I asked our driver to turn back immediately. I told dad that it's an emergency that's why I needed to go back. Luckily, he's calmer now and easy to talk to which made it a lot easier for me to go back. He kept his eyes out of the window, looking far away and quiet. I felt guilty for not telling him yet that I already know where mom is.

I reached the school and I saw that dad's car drove away when I got off. I'll probably call Paul afterwards. I ran to find Mrs. Green and luckily, I saw her talking to some visitors. I ran towards them and stopped beside her, I didn't bother her. When she finally saw me, she ended her discussion with the visitors.

"Shantel." Her voice is soothing.

"I just want to tell you that I already remembered everything. I know I became scared days ago but now, i'm here to face everything." she explained.

"Mrs. Green."

"Mom" she said. I was super happy when she let me call her that.

"Mom, they're right. You have your own family now. I destroyed everything! Zac. He cares a lot for you-"

"I know, I know but i'm here to tell you that I consider you as my child and i'm happy about it. I can be your mom" she explained.

"But mrs. Green.. All I wanted was at first was to get you back but when I realized that doing that just proves me to be one of dad's beast then I should've never started to. I love you mom but right now, God took you away from us for a reason and I guess that reason is He doesn't want you with us anymore. You're too good for us." I explained. Suddenly, I felt a teardrop running down my cheek.

"But here we are, talking again. God made me remember everything right and you said everything has a reason" she said and hugged me.

"I'm always here to be your mom and Martha's" She finally let go and I noticed that she's actually smiling. She's happy with me. Suddenly, I had doubts about me living tomorrow but then I remembered dad. I don't want to be involved in his schemes anymore.

When mom left, I remained standing there for a couple of minutes, trying to think what's best for everyone.

"Hey" I heard a familiar voice. I turned around to see him. He looks calm right now which I didn't actually expect.

"Mom talked to me and she's right. Everyone wants a family, even me-"

"Zac, you don't need to worry anymore. Tomorrow, i'll be leaving for Australia and i'm staying there for good. Yes, I finally found mom and we're reunited but I never want to hurt someone just so I could get my own happiness." I explained. I locked my eyes on his calm and soft eyes. They're still wonderful as I remembered. I noticed a line forming a smile from his lips. Finally, seeing him happy removes my sadness inside.

"Thank you. I'm thanking you because even though I hurt you so many times, you never lost concern towards me and everyone else. I'm sorry for thinking that you're bad just like your father and mostly, i'm sorry for hurting you yesterday." He said and for instance, I felt his lips on my cheek. I was paralyzed. The kiss was tender and soft. He was also paralyzed when he removed his lips from my cheek.

"I'm sorry" he said. After a few awkward seconds. He began talking again.

"Don't leave please, I know your happiness is here so please don't leave" he asked. "I think it's better. I'm done being my dad's slave for the past years. I wanted to start a life where I'll never worry if I pleased dad or not." I explained.

He then gave me a letter. "I need to go now" he said. As soon as I have the letter, he left immediately.

After a long night full of controversies. I finally went home and started packing. While packing, I saw my diary and I put Zac's letter in the middle. I continued packing. After packing, I decided to visit my dad and ask him to have dinner with him. I'm giving him one last chance to change my mind about him and about Australia. I have decided to tell him everything as well. I decided to put everything in a letter to make it fast and less drama.

Paul drove me to where he's currently staying right now. Apparently, he's staying at a hotel right now. I rang the door bell but no one answered. I tried it again and again and no one still answered. I decided to barge in and luckily it's open. No one was inside.
