Here I am. Standing at the door with my suitcase. It's ten past six. Perri's Mum was supposed to be here to pick me up ten minutes ago. Not that I want her to show up.

"Are you sure you don't want a sandwhich, Amber?" Fel's Mum says. "You're going to Essex."

I shake my head.

Fel and Alicia are in Fel's room- ignoring me.

"Are you sure she's coming?" I say to Fel's Mum.

"Of course. You should be excited...you are seeing Perri tonight."

No- I'm not excited.

I smile- and then the doorbell rings.

"Amber!" Perri's Mum shrieks.

I hug her.

"Are you ready? We've got a long way to go. Don't worry Ashley is dropping Pel off so we don't have to go to the airport..." She says.

"Thank you so much." I say to her.

Fel's Mum is happy to see me leave and only Alicia comes downstairs to wave goodbye. I hate this. It's like I'm not wanted anyway.

I sit in the front seat of Perri's Mum's car.

"He gets back quite late tonight." She says.

"I'm nervous..." I admit as we drive out of Fel's estate.

"Don't be. I'm sure he's missed you." She says.

Perri's Mum. Always looking on the bright side of the situation.

"I'm just afraid...it's all going to end badly again..." I say.

"It won't, trust me. You'll have time to yourself for a bit. Starr and Elvie are on a school trip. They don't get back until tomorrow morning, but probably earlier than Pel.."

"Okay...thank you so much..."

"Oh, no problem. I feel like it's part of my responsibility to make sure you're okay."

I nod. She's definetly better than my mum.

To my suprise, the drive isn't that long, and we're there in no time.

I don't even know when I was at Perri's house last. Perri's Mum helps my suitcase out of the car. I feel so homeless all of a sudden, like I have nowhere to go.

"Does he know I'm here?" I say.

Perri's Mum shakes her head.

Great.

"Anyway, make yourself at home. Your room is just down the corridor, after Perri's. I have a meeting to go to..."

She quickly gets the house keys and gives them to me.

"I'll be quite late as well...sorry...we're all so busy. You can order pizza if you want- there's money in the drawer...or you could just cook something up for yourself, I don't mind."

"Thank you."

"No problem. I'll be back. See you soon..."

And without another word, she leaves the house.

For some reason, I don't feel that lonely.

I put the keys somewhere safe, then I wheel my suitcase down the corridor. I pass Starr's room, then Elvie's...when I get to Perri's I stop.

I sigh.

Should I go in?

No way Amber, that would be way to stalkerish...and you've gotten into enough trouble already.
