I can hear footsteps behind the door.

With my hand shaking, I quickly stuff all the drugs in the bin.

Then I call Mum.

"Amber?" Mum says.

"Mum..." I say, in a panick. "Mum, can you hear me?"

"Amber. Calm down. Tell me what's wrong?"

I swallow hard.

"Mum...." I say, trying not to have a mental breakdown. "Todd came home...drunk. With bags, bags of drugs. He's been out with another woman....Mum I'm scared."

"Amber, dear. Just calm down. Destroy those drugs." She says.

"I have!" I shout out of panick.

"Okay...now lock the doors. You'll be fine. If the police come, say you're the only one in...okay?" She says.

"Okay...okay." I say. "Todd's still passed out."

"Leave him. He's a betrayer. After the police are gone, just take everything and leave. Go to Perri's. I'll call Karen..." She says.

I run into my room an grab everything I own, stuffing it into my suitcase.

"Leave the keys with Todd." Mum says.

I throw them on the couch.

Todd looks like he's waking up.

"Take the train to Perri's. You have money don't you?" She says.

"Yes." I say.

"Amber- where are you going? Get back here!" Todd shouts.

Now I flee downstairs. Out of the hotel. Away from him. To what I call home now.

And it's only 2:30am.

I kind of run to the next train station. I knew Todd could not be trusted. But does Mum ever listen to me?

No.

And I'm the one as usual that's suffering for it. But this means more time with Perri. And more time to convince Perri. So that's great.

I struggle to keep awake on the two trains to Essex.

I almost miss my stop but thankfully I'm woken up by a text message from Kim.

'Good news. Mitch and I are buying a house not a flat. The flat is yours.'

That makes me smile to myself....but it doesn't mean we're moving in.

When I arrive at Perri's house I don't even have to knock before I'm bustled in by Perri's Mum.

"Amber, come in dear, you must be petrified."

The truth is, I am. Which is weird, because I've experienced much worse.

She lets me in, and the first thing that springs to my mind is Perri.

"Sit down Amber, would you like anything?"

Can I move in with Perri?

"No, I'm fine..." I say. "I'm just really tired."

The lights are on in the house. I'm suprised Perri didn't come down to see me.

"Is he awake?" I say.

"No..." Karen whispers. "I didn't wake him up because I knew he'd be too worried."

Don't think Perri will like the sound of that...

"Well, you need to go to bed. Get some sleep, yeah? We'll sort everything out tomorrow."

That's what Dad said to Mum and I before he left us...
