I sat on the cliff I had tried to kill myself on. It was the highest point of the island allowing me to watch everything that goes on below. Over the last year I only had to kill five men and two women. It's not so bad once you've killed your fifth person. It becomes automatic almost. It's not like I enjoy killing or anything. It's my job to do so now, as the last sister and Mother.
I had learned to control my vectors once again. It was amazing what I could do now. I could jump so high I could reach the clouds on a stormy day. I could move so fast that moving from one side of the island to the other only took me two minutes.
The sound of a loud engine caught my attention. I smiled and jumped off the cliff and rushed to where Jobe would land. I had to wait five minutes before he finally landed. Once he cut the engine off Ponyo came springing out the plane taller then I had remembered her being.
"LIZZY IZZY BEAR!" Ponyo screeched with joy throwing herself at me.
"Fishy! You've gotten so big!" I said pulling her back to check her over more thoroughly.
"You've got horns now! What happened to the kitty ears?" She asked making me skip a beat. I had actually forgotten about my hats or beanies. Not that I could or would use them now.
"These are real Fishy, I grew them not to long ago. It's natural for my family to do this." I said after hesitating.
"Liz, how have you been my girl?" Jobe bellowed coming up to crush me in a bear him.
"Good! Well, it's getting better at least. How have you been?" I asked when he set me down.
"We've been good as well. Same old same old. Geez, look at these big ol things. How are you going to hid them now?" Jobe asked taking both my horns into his hands. The tips still peaked out of his hands. I'm just glade they pointed back and up instead of straight out, cause that would of looked weird.
"Yeah yeah, let's just say that I'm mature now. This is how I'll be till the day I die. The only thing that I can improve on now is my Nen." I said swatting his hands away.
"Have you been working on it?" He asked.
"Yeah, whenever I'm not working on my vectors. Typically when I'm up there watching the island." I said pointing to the mountain off in the distance.
"Awe, well. Are you going to leave with us?" Jobe asked.
"Yes, but I'll come back to the Island every now and then. It is my santuary after all." I said. "Well, I'll go get my phone now. Be back in a flash." I said then sent myself hurling towards my spot. I quickly rushed in and grabbed my phone then paused at the armor set. I was in the middle of an internal debate when my grandma popped up.
"Go on, it was made for a Mother to wear anyways. It would make me so happy to see you in it." She said.
"Okay grandma! I'll wear it!" I said and started putting on the armor. It wasn't all that bulky. Just a pair of silver elbow high gloves, Shin guards, Toe guards, and a crown that had vines that wrapped around my horns. It came to a downward point on my forehead. The gem was red that hanged from the point. I didn't much care for it but I had to remember that this wasn't actually made with me in mind. If it was up to me the metal would be black and the gem a light purple.
"It fits you so well." Alessa said tilting her head.
"Would of looked better on you." I said.
"Wasn't made for me, it was made for Yumi when she grew up and became the next Mother." She said doing a circle around me. "Anyways, go on with yourself. Keep those three promises." She said waving me off.
"Alright, you guys......I don't know. Take care I guess?" I shrugged before climbing up the stairs. I rushed back to the plane where both Jobe and Ponyo gave me a funny look. "My grandma gave this to me! I'll get it painted as soon as I can!" I huffed getting into the plane. Once in I noticed my old music device hooked up to the radio. The ride had just gotten a lot better since I hadn't listen to anything for a year now.
When we landed I rented us all a room and took a shower. It was so nice having shampoo and conditioner to use. Once I was done I put on a clean set of clothes and threw my old ones away. I was now wearing a black spaghetti strap top, and black short shorts. My armor now lay on the table beside on of the full sized beds in the room.
"Better?" Jobe asked when I walked out the bathroom.
"Better! I do believe I was starting to get spoiled as a hunter." I said.
"Most likely, by the way. When are you going to start actually being a hunter?" He asked.
"Well first I need more training with my Nen. I still don't know what type I am." I frowned popping down on the bed.
"How do you find out?" Ponyo yawned.
"That I have no clue. My teacher kind of tried killing me."
"Speaking of that, he and that other guy with the long hair came around looking for you eight months ago." He said.
"Anyone get hurt?" I asked.
"No, he had somewhere else to be and the other one got bored. I was currently hidding with the sister family a city over." He said.
"Oh? How are they?" I asked half mindly.
"Their fine actually. Got a new butter finger with them." He said flipping the page of the local newspaper.
"Hm, well. I'm going to bed now. Goodnight Jobe, night Ponyo." I said getting under the covers.
"Night Lizzy Izzy Bear!" Ponyo chirped.
"Night Liz." Jobe said still reading. The next morning we all went down to a paint shop where I paid them to make my armor black. The silver was just way to flashy for my tastes. Many people where staring at me like I was a freak but so far no one said anything directly to me. Next stop was the jeweler who exchanged the rubby on my crown for an amythest. After I took the crown to a black smith to get the vines taken off. Instead they were barbwire curling around my horns. It was a tribute to the person who was supposed to be wearing this armor, Yumi.
"You know, at least the silver and vines made you look like a good guy." Jobe said once we were on the streets again with me wearing my armor.
"Jobe, I don't give a rats ass how I look as long as I like it. Besides it all has a reason for being the way it is. If they want to judge a book by it's cover then so be it." I said sourly.
"Just saying, cause you've got them horns out for all to see. With the dark armor on and those barbwires around them, you do look like a demon now." Jobe said lifting up his hands in submission.
"It never would of mattered what I wear. A dogs still a dog even when dressed up as a human." I rolled my eyes.
"Can we get ice cream?" Ponyo asked breaking up the dark aura that seemed to hang around me.
"Sure sweetie." I smiled at her as she took my hand and lead me to the ice cream stand. The woman behind the counter was too busy staring at my horns to hear what little Ponyo was ordering. "You know it's rude to stare?" I growled making her flinch back.
"S-sorry." She studdered.
"That's alright! I stared at Lizzy Izzy Bears horns the first time I saw them too! She even let me touch them when she had her crown off. Now I'd like a chocolate cone, one scoop of mint chocolate, one of rocky road and the last scoop I would like strawberry!" Ponyo chattered happily.
"Okay, um...what would you like ma'am?" She asked with a shaky smile.
"Geez, I'd like a vanilla cone. Make that two." I sighed rubbing the bridge of my nose. I paid her through my phone and was off on my very unmerry way.
