CharlieI sat, awkwardly, between Mason and Declan in the booth at Waverley's cafe. Thirty minutes ago she left to go check up on work and see if there was anything she needed to do, leaving two angry wolves with a small, poor, human girl. It didn't help that I was honestly terrified they'd like shift and start tearing at each other and with me being in the middle, I wasn't ready to get injured again. Or worse, dead. Just like my dad...
"Aye! Heard you guys would be here!" The dark brunette I knew as Jace, struts in, Liam and Kyle right behind him. It has been a while since I've seen them. I kinda missed them, it was nice to hang out with them that one time.
"Wow, the Alpha is actually outside his office for once." Kyle comments sarcastically.
"Alpha?" I look up at Declan, seeing as Kyle was referring to him.
"Shit! You didn't tell her!" Liam whisper shouts, as if trying to still keep their werewolf secret. But when I looked around I noticed both Mason and Declan avoiding my gaze. There was something else.
"Tell me what?" This time I turn my attention to Mason who was rubbing the bridge of his nose.
"Chill, we told her, head ass." Liam sits back down, his mouth in a silent 'oh'.
"What?" I ask exasperated. Now, I look up at Declan.
"Alpha is a term packs use to name their leader." Declan answers me, rubbing his face. "If you're an Alpha you're the most strongest wolf in the pack, you're the leader. An Alpha protects, serves, and honors his pack. In doing so, everyone else who isn't an Alpha must listen to whatever the Alpha says. What he says goes." After Declan explained it was my turn to sit with a silent 'oh' on my lips.
"So you're the Alpha? The most powerful in the pack?" I notice the way his chest puffed out, his back straightening out. Those emerald eyes hardening in the softest way as he looks at me.
"Yes."
Okay, that doesn't make me scared of him. Nope, not at all. He's just a very strong person. That's all Charlie. He won't hurt me.
But that's what my dad said to me and they hurt him. They killed him.
No, stop Charlie. It isn't the same. But then again it is. Those were wolves. Declan and Mason are wolves. If they're wolves then that means Jace is. Is Liam and Kyle also wolves? Amy? Is she a wolf? How many wolves are there exactly...
"Declan?" My voice was tiny and soft. I don't know why, but I was scared of his response. "How many wolves are there in this pack of yours?"
"Ours." Snapping my head up, I narrow my eyes at Declan. What did he just say?
"What?"
"200. There's 200." My breath caught in my throat. I was literally in a town full of wolves!
For all I know every person I've seen was a wolf! Am I the only human! "Charlie?"
"Move." I turn over to Mason shoving at his arm but he doesn't budge.
"What why?" Mason rubs the spot where I shoved him. I doubt that even hurt.
"Just move!" I groan.
"Hey, Charlie... Are you okay?" Jace leans over the table trying to get closer but a growl from Declan makes him fall back. Wincing at his menacing growl, I fight more to nudge Mason's unmoving form.
