Declan

After practically exposing myself to my pack by howling that I have found my mate and having to block my mind from all the bombarding questions, I kept my eyes focused on my mate as she struggles to carry in boxes obviously too heavy and big for her to carry. But she did it any way. I felt an odd sense of pride for my small human mate.

I was so enchanted by my mate I didn't even realize Jace was still beside me. The slight nudge of his nose on the side of my neck brought me back to reality. Normally I would have snapped at him but at the moment, my wolf was far beyond happy. Wanting time alone, I shoo Jace off who happily trots back to the pack house. His wolf was happy for me, heck I was even happy for myself. For once I felt pure happiness, not a fake happy I put on around my friends and pack. I can't believe I went so long without feeling this kind of joy. But how could I have been happy? I was mateless. I killed to fill the void of where my mate should have been. I let my envy and jealously of my friends get to me as I turned into a bitter beast. How could I have ever been happy without a mate, my other half?

Now, here she is. Flesh and bone right before me. But it wasn't as easy as I had dreamed long ago when I turned 16. My mate was no she-wolf. She was human. An unknown one at that. There was still a possibility of her being a threat. My wolf growled at me for ever thinking our mate could be dangerous when she was anything but.

Letting out a wolfish sigh I nearly kick myself for thinking that. Watching my mate I see her drop a box far to heavy for her and struggle to pick it back up. There's no way she could ever be a threat. She looked far too innocent and smelt too pure to be evil. She was human. Clueless to the world she just moved into, and oblivious to all the chaos I'm about to bring into her life.

I felt my heart ache for my mate as I let out a whimper. With a reputation like mine I have many enemies that would love to see me fall, find out my weakness and bring an end to my rein. And I knew this girl was going to be my greatest and only weakness.

Far too consumed with my thoughts I barely realized my mate stopped stepping outside. Using my heightened senses I listen closely for any movement. When I don't hear anything, I panic letting out a soft howl. Jumping out behind the bush I make a run for the opened door. What I find is not what I was expecting. Before me my mate was huddled into the couch snoring ever so slightly, fast asleep. For a second I expected to find her in the claws of a rouge, her blood splattering the wood floors. Whimpering at my thoughts, my wolf silently enters the old cottage. The old smells of the Elder blending with my mates honey comb scent.

Gently taking the fallen comforter from the floor I lightly toss it over my mates body fighting hard to resist the urge to touch her and mark her as mine. I knew I couldn't do that. Not yet at least. I had to ease her into this, make her fall in love with me. Successfully tucking my mate in I quickly leave my mate's home whimpering softly.

How can a girl like her love a man like me?

As soon as I woke up, I was already moving around and picking up where I left off yesterday. For some odd reason I had a ball of energy inside me that was ready to burst! In just a few short hours I finally finished organizing my room. There was an empty space where the bed should be and I knew that was the second thing on my to do list to get. The first one; a job.

Even though I came here to Washington with well enough money on my card, I just wanted a job to secure myself. My old job gave me enough to live on with the help of my brothers but now, I needed one to help myself live on my own. I didn't want to depend on anyone anymore.

Deciding it was time to strip myself of my clothes and shower, I quickly closed up the house, positive that it had plenty of time to air out. Managing to get the shower to work in my new room, I gather my clothes for the day.

After a refreshing shower I pull on a pair of dark wash skinny jeans, slightly pleased about how well the jeans fit my body. Throwing on a thin turquoise button down blouse, I slip on my sandals and grab my purse. Making sure I had my keys in hand I leave my house on a mission.

The ride to the town was surprisingly short and easy to find. I mentally applaud my good sense of direction. Driving through the cute little town I admire the small shops and hole in the walls. I also couldn't help but make a note of the diners and restaurants that looked good. What can I say? I love my food.

As I continued to drive I noticed there weren't that many cars around. I was slightly confused until I noticed everyone walking. I groaned internally. Great, now I have to park my car! I'll look like a weirdo just driving around while everyone else is walking!

Sighing I find a place to park on the side of the road by another car and hop out of my truck, tripping slightly on my own two feet. Catching my self against the door of my car I let out a breath of air.

"Stupid feet." I grumble under my breath, huffing in annoyance at my own clumsiness. Sometimes it's annoying how accident prone I am. I'm honestly shocked I haven't broken any bones yet. Just as I'm turning around to leave I come face to face with another body.

"Are you okay?" Gasping I jump back, hitting my head on my car's side view mirror. Hissing in pain I rub the back of my head.

"Ow," I whine, clenching my eyes close. God, I'm really clumsy. How the hell did I even hit that?

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to scare you!" I blink open my eyes to see a beautiful long legged blonde reaching out to me. I stare in awe at the women before me. She was like an angel! Her hair was so long and blonde! And the dress she wore flowed around her. She's beautiful.

"Uh, no it's okay." I shake my head now shocked by the fact someone actually spoke to me. For some reason I felt like everyone was just going to ignore me and go about their lives. I guess they don't get new people very often.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, it's fine. For how many time I hurt my self I heal pretty quickly." I joke laughing at my own humor. I see a tiny flicker of pain flash in the lady's beautiful green eyes before she herself giggles shaking her head at me.

"You're a tough one I bet." I laugh with her before looking down at my feet suddenly feeling very subconscious about standing next to someone as beautiful as her. It was almost intimidating, "What's your name?" Glancing up into the girl's green orbs I swallow the lump in my throat.

"Charlie. My name is Charlie." She smiled bright, her eyes shining in the sun giving off a yellow glow.

"Well Charlie, my name is Waverley. Waverley Antonio."
