Ben POV:
I knocked on Chloe's door, ready for our date. She found a sitter and we were going out to dinner, finally a real date. Eliza helped me pick out a nice outfit to wear so I looked nice and not like 'your usual self' as Carrie described it. She opened the door wearing a little black dress, looking more beautiful than she had ever had before.
"Wow..." I said looking at her in awe.
"You like?" She laughed.
"You look.....wow." I laughed.
"Thanks." She blushed.
"Ready to go?" I asked.
"Yes!" She smiled and we were off. "So how's Eliza doing?" She asked.
"I think she's doing better. She's just really upset about Joey breaking up with her." I explained.
"Girls been through a lot." Chloe said.
"You have no idea." I said. "She's the strongest girl I've met."
"It takes a lot to raise a kid. And she started before she was even old enough to get pregnant." Chloe said. "It's been hard for me to raise Allyson, I can only imagine how hard she must have worked to raise Carrie. She must have had no childhood."
"Yeah, but now she lives with me and her life is getting better. She even has a job. But she's been talking about moving out and I really don't want that to happen. She can't afford it." I said.
"Im sure she won't move out." Chloe said. We got to the restaurant and afterwards, we went for a walk through Central Park.
"Chloe, I have a question to ask you." I said as we sat on one of the rocks. "I wanted to know...if...well, if you would be my girlfriend." I asked.
"Oh Ben." She said looking over at me. "I want to say yes." She said.
"So, you will be my girlfriend?" I asked smiling.
"Ben, can you look me in the eyes and tell me you don't have any feelings for Eliza?" She asked.
"Wait what?" I asked.
"I really like you Ben, a lot. And I love spending time with you. But there's been this gut feeling inside of me that I just can't shake. I can't commit if I know you have feelings for another girl. I have too much to commit for a guy who drop me in a heart beat." She said.
"Chloe, I really really like you. And I want to be with you and Allyson. I'm not just going to drop you, I swear. I care about you a lot." I said grabbing her hands.
"But do you have feelings for Eliza?" She asked. I looked at her for a moment and then finally decided my answer.
"....no. She's just a friend." I said.
"Then yes, I will be your girlfriend." She smiled.
"That's all I ever wanted." I said putting my hands on her soft cheeks and pulling her into a kiss. She's just a friend.....
Eliza POV:
"Come on Carrie! Hurry up!" I screamed from the living room.
"Why are we moving out?" Carrie asked walking in with her suitcase.
"Because, it's weird that we live with Ben." I said.
"Where are we going?" She asked.
"Home." I said.
"With dad?" She asked.
"No, dads in jail. And grandma moved into a retirement community and didn't sell her house. So it's still empty. So we are moving in." I said.
"Why can't we stay here?" She asked.
"Because it's weird. And Ben is asking Chloe out tonight and we don't want to be the ones to break them up. So come on!" I said grabbing her arm and pulling her out. I dragged her all the way back the house and we climbed through the window again.
"This house smells like shit." She said plugging her nose.
"We just need a couple candles to make it smell better." I said.
"I hate it here!" Carrie said.
"Well that sucks cuz we live here now." I said throwing my suitcase on the bed.
"Does Ben know we left?" Carrie asked.
"He will." I said.
"I'm hungry, can you make dinner?" Carrie asked.
"Um sure." I said and walked to the kitchen. There's no food here. Awesome.
"Sorry Car, no dinner tonight." I said.
"But I'm hungry." Carrie said.
"You used to go days without food. You can survive one night." I said then I dug through my book bag. "Here, have a piece of gum."
"I hate this." Carrie said.
"Well this our life so get over it." I said.
"Why couldn't we stay with Ben?" She asked.
"Forget about Ben ok?!?" I freaked.
"But he let us stay there and I got to eat 3 meals a day and got new clothes and life was great!" Carrie said.
"Well sucks." I said opening up my suitcase.
"I'm not living here." Carrie said crossing her arms.
"Then where you gonna live? On the streets again?" I asked.
"With Ben!" She said.
"No! Now stop!" I said. "Go brush your teeth, it's time for bed." I said. She ran off to the bathroom and I walked around the house. So many bad memories....
"EW!" She screamed from the bathroom. "THE WATER IS BROWN."
"Then just go to bed!" I screamed. There's the closet my dad would lock us in, the wall he slammed my head against.....don't think about him Eliza. He's in jail, rotting away to hell. I walked back to the bedroom where Carrie was lying in bed. I laid down next to her and she rested her head on my shoulder. "I am so sorry." I said running my fingers through her hair. Sorry that I couldn't give her food, a better life, anything. Only Ben could. He took better care of her than I ever could.
