Eliza POV:
"I'm sorry, my little sister was sick and u had to get her medicine! Please don't fire me, I need this job." I pleaded.
"You've been late too many times. We have to let you go." My boss said.
"No please, I'll do anything." I said.
"I'm sorry but I'm not changing my mind." He said. Fuck. I ran out of the store and down the street to an abandoned ally. I fucked everything up. Now we have no food, no electricity, no running water, and now no money. How could I do this to her? She's all I have in life, the best thing to happen to me and I'm letting her down. Maybe it would be best if I just let her go live with somebody else, somebody who could care for her...I ran back to the apartment and Carrie was sitting on the floor of the living room, drawing on some old paper.
"Why are you back so early?" Carrie asked.
"Um they didn't need me today." I said. "Wanna go on an adventure?" I asked her.
"Of course!" She smiled standing up. I grabbed her hand and we headed out to the streets of New York. She deserves so much more than I can give her.
Ben POV:
"THATS IT. ELIZA HAS BEEN GONE 6 MONTHS NOW. GET OUT OF THIS APARTMENT AND GO DO SOMETHING!" DeMarius screamed bursting into my apartment.
"I'm never going to see her again." I said.
"Come on, you need to get out of here. Now." DeMarius said pulling me up from the couch and pulling me outside. He took me down to Central Park where we sat in the middle of one of the big fields.
"I wanna go home." I said.
"Stop being such a bum. Come on, breathe in the fresh air." DeMarius said.
"I just want Eliza." I said.
"Eliza has disappeared, we haven't seen her in 6 months and we will probably never see her again." He said.
"Is that Carrie?" I asked looking off into the distance to a group of kids all playing tag.
"Oh great, now you are imagining things. Ben, they left. You need to move on." He said.
"No dude I'm serious, I think that's Carrie." I said and stood up to run over to them.
"BEN! NO!" DeMarius screamed as I started to run to the group. "BENJAMIN COOK DO NOT MAKE ME RUN!"
"CARRIE!" I screamed as I got closer to the group. The one little girl turned to look at me and her face lit up.
"BEN!" She smiled and ran over to me. I picked her up and held her as tight as I could.
"Where's Eliza?" I asked.
"I don't know." She said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"One day she dropped me off here, told me it was better for me here and that she would come visit every Friday. But she never did." Carrie said looking down.
"Where is here?" I asked.
"It's a foster home." She said.
"Eliza left you here?" I asked surprised.
"Yeah. I guess she just didn't want me anymore." Carrie said.
"I told you I wasn't running." DeMarius said walking up next to us. "Where's Eliza?"
"She put Carrie in foster care and has disappeared." I said. "We have to find her."
"Ben, it's impossible. You need to give up on Eliza. We all do." DeMarius said.
