Eliza POV:
"How much did we make today?" I asked.
"$23.45." Carrie said.
"Let's just do one more song." I said. "Let's do stitches." I said. I set my guitar on my lap and started to play. I looked down at my guitar the whole time and just listened to Carrie sing the song. I finished the last chord and I heard applause. I looked up and Ben was standing in front of us.
"That was incredible." He smiled.
"Ben!" I laughed. "What are you doing here?"
"Well I was riding the subway to work when I heard an incredible little voice singing. I looked over and it was you guys." He smiled. "You two are really talented."
"Thanks." I laughed.
"Hi Ben!" Carrie smiled grabbing him in a hug.
"How much longer are you two performing?" He asked.
"That was our last song." I said.
"Why don't you guys come to the theatre with me then? Unless you have something else planned." He said.
"Actually we-" I started.
"Are totally free!" Carrie said cutting me off.
"Great! I'm sure the cast would love to hear you play." Ben said.
"We actually can't right this second. We have to go home and help our grandmother. But we can come tomorrow." I said.
"Here, give my your number and then you can text me when you are at the theatre so I can let you in." Ben said handing me his phone. I entered my number and handed the phone back to him.
"Tell Sarah I said hi!" Carrie smiled.
"Will do short stack." Ben laughed. "See you guys tomorrow."
"See ya." I said.
"We don't have to help Grandma. She's in Florida." Carrie said.
"Yeah, well, we don't have to go to the theatre either. We just need to go home." We packed up our stuff and headed back to the house. I opened the door to my house and our dad was sitting on the chair with a glass of whiskey in his hand. Great.
"Where were you?" He asked.
"At school." I said.
"School ends at 4. It's 6." He said.
"We performed in the subway." Carrie smiled.
"I told y'all to stop doing that!" He said sounding angry.
"Well Dad, somebody in this house has to make money." I said setting my guitar case down.
"Hey, don't use that tone with me." He said. He's so drunk right now. I can smell the whiskey on his breath from here.
"Whatever Dad." I said.
"I SAID. DONT USE THAT TONE WITH ME." He said standing up.
"Carrie, go to your room." I said. She ran down the hall to her room where hopefully she wouldn't be able to hear anything.
"You need to lose the attitude." My dad said.
"And you need to get off your lazy ass and get a job." I said.
"Don't tell me what to do." He said.
"Carrie and I didn't eat dinner last night Dad. We also didn't eat breakfast this morning. Mom works 20 hours a day and sleeps the other 4 to make money to pay grandma and you just sit on your ass and drink all day. Everybody else is working to make money except you." I said.
