"The reason why I couldn't come visit sooner was because my doctor didn't think it was safe for me to travel." Stevie said stalling just a bit.
"What do you mean? Were you sick?" Barbara asked before Jess could.
Stevie smiled. "Sort of."
"Please Teedee! You're making us worry!" Barbara said.
Stevie bit her bottom lip. "Well, let's just say in five or so months, you both will be able to meet a new addition to the family."
Barbara's and Jess's minds worked over time to understand what Stevie meant.
Barbara gasped. "Teedee! You're pregnant!"
"I am!" Stevie said with a smile; she then turned to her father and he had tears of joy in his eyes.
"Oh Stephanie! I'm so happy for you!" Jess exclaimed and reached over to hug Stevie.
Barbara took her turn to hug Stevie. "Stephanie, I can't wait to meet my new grandchild! Now tell us...um..." Barbara stumble not sure how to ask.
"What your mother is wondering as am I; it's just we didn't know you were in a relationship and..."
Jess also was stumbling in his words, he wanted to also ask about how this could be possible since she was after all 56 years old.
Stevie quickly went on and said. "Well, I am older than most mothers to be, but I have yet to go through..."the change"...." Stevie felt a bit embarrassed talking about this with her father. "And well, I wanted to have a baby and my doctor had me on fertility treatments then I chose an anonymous donor and here I am! I'm four months now."

Barbara could tell and knew when Stevie said how far along she was that the child's father was no anonymous donor. Her heart ached for her daughter. She couldn't imagine what it would be like to carry the child of her rapist.
"I'm still considered high risk but so far so good." Stevie continued and placed her hand on her belly. "I still haven't felt any movement but my doctor back in L.A. said that usually women don't feel movement until the fifth month. I can't wait!"

A month passed, Stevie was now five months.
In that month, Stevie enjoyed every moment spent with her parents; she felt safe being back at home.

Stevie did have her moments; all her feelings about what Don did would come flooding back.

Jess began to suspect something more was going on than what Stevie had told them.
He would find Stevie either in her bed room or on the couch in the living room in tears.
Plus, the nightmares returned and Stevie would wake up screaming. Barbara would wake up and rush to Stevie's room to calm Stevie down.

Jess would ask what was wrong and she would just respond that it was due to pregnancy hormones.
He even asked Barbara if she knew anything. Barbara told him the same thing that Stevie told him. But Jess knew that something was very wrong with his little girl.

Stevie had been to two appointments with Dr. Williams, which Stevie loved her from the moment they met.
Dr. Williams told Stevie that the baby was doing well and so was she. Although, Dr. Williams did tell Stevie that as her pregnancy progress that, that may not be the case and would have to keep an extra close eye on both the baby and Stevie.
Her next appointment would reveal the baby's gender.

On the day that Stevie finally felt the baby move was an emotional day for her but her smile never left her face that day.

A few days before her next appointment, Stevie was in her bedroom curled up in bed.
She had been crying again and wanted to be alone.

There was a soft knock on the bedroom door; Stevie thinking it was her mother said "Come in."
"Aunt Stevie?" Jessica, Stevie's niece said walking into the room.
Stevie sat up and quickly wiped her tears away; she smiled at her 10 year old niece and beckoned her closer to her. "Oh my sweet girl! I missed you so much."
Jessica walked over and sat down next to Stevie on the bed and gave her aunt a hug. "I missed you too! Are you okay aunt Stevie? It looks like you've been crying."
Stevie smiled at Jessica trying to hide her emotions. "I'm fine. It's just allergies sweet girl. Where's your dad and mom?"
Jessica didn't push it and answered Stevie's question. "Dad is downstairs with grandma and grandpa, and my mom has a cold so she stayed home."
"I hope your mom feels better soon. I'll call her later tonight. Now, come on let's go downstairs." Stevie said as she stood up.
Jessica stared wide eyed at Stevie. "Um...aunt Stevie? What's...that?" She asked as she pointed at Stevie's belly.

Now in her fifth month, Stevie's belly was more noticeable, especially due to her height.
Stevie smiled wide and said. "I'm having a baby. You get to meet your new cousin in a few months."
Jessica jumped up and down. "Really?! Oh aunt Stevie! I can't wait to meet them! Is it a boy or a girl!!??"
Stevie chuckled. "Not sure yet sweet girl, but I'll find out this week. When we get downstairs, don't tell you dad yet. Let's surprise him."

Stevie and Jessica made their way downstairs; Chris had his back turned helping Barbara cook dinner when Stevie tapped his shoulder. Jessica had run off to spend some time with her grandfather in the living room.
Chris turned and smiled then hugged Stevie. "Sis! It's good to see you! I missed...." He trailed off. "What in the world?" He said as he saw her belly.
"Surprise!" Stevie giggled.
She took her brother's hand and led him to the kitchen table and told him what she had told her father.
Chris could tell that something was off; it sounded like she had rehearsed the words she spoke.
Chris was going to ask what she was hiding but didn't push it. He let it go for now. He smiled instead and said. "I'm so happy for you sis! I can't wait to meet my niece or nephew."
He stood up then hugged Stevie and she held on tight.

Before she realized, Stevie was sobbing.
Chris pulled back to look at his sister. "Stephanie, what's wrong?"
"Nothing...it's just...really good to be home with mom and dad and you. I really...missed you all." Stevie sobbed.
"Hey sis, it's okay you don't have to cry." Chris said as he hugged Stevie again and rubbed her back trying to soothe her.
"I'm...sorry. I..." Stevie said trying to calm herself.

Chris led Stevie back to her seat and help her sit down. He kneeled down in front of her and took her hands in his.
"Stevie, tell me what's wrong? I know there is something you aren't telling me."
Stevie shook her head. "You don't need to know this."
"Sis, please tell me!" Chris looked into her eyes and saw so much turmoil in them.

Growing up, Stevie and her brother had always had strong bond, he was always her protector.
Maybe if she told him she would maybe feel a bit better.

Stevie took a deep breath and told her brother what had happened.
Chris's face turned red with anger; he stood up and paced the kitchen floor. Barbara stood by with tears rolling down her cheeks.
"Who did this?!" Chris asked his voice raised.
"Chris please! Keep your voice down. I don't want daddy to know. He can't find out, he's been feeling sick and..." Stevie sobbed.
Chris breathed in and out to try to calm himself. "Who did this to you Stevie?" He asked a little softer now.
"Don." She said simply.
"Don! Don Henley!" Chris's voice grew louder once again. "Oh wait till I get my hands on him! I'm going to kill that fucking bastard!"
Stevie stood up and said. "Please Chris calm down! Please." She placed a hand on her belly.
Chris's eyes were wide as if they were about to pop out of his head. "No! That bastard got you pregnant! You're carrying your rapists child! Stevie! That's..."
Before Chris could finish his sentence they all heard a thump close by followed by Jessica's voice. "Grandpa!"
