The week with Christine was like a breath of fresh air for Stevie. Christine managed to distract Stevie from all the negative thoughts that would go through Stevie's mind.
Stevie was smiling more and laughing more which made Jess and Barbara extremely happy.By the end of the week Christine decided not to go home and stay with Stevie for a while.
Their days were spent talking about anything and everything, also of course Stevie still struggled with her thoughts and would vent to Christine about them.
Christine would listen then would give Stevie some words of comfort.
Their nights were spent having a girls night every night, they would paint each other's nails, they would watch movies or listen to music.
They would eat ice cream sundaes since Stevie couldn't consume alcohol.
Stevie would add pickles to her sundaes, and Christine would tease her about it.Before Stevie knew it she was in her eighth month.
It finally caught up to her now; she was tired all the time, she slept more than usual. Her belly had grown immensely, it was difficult for Stevie to move around. And her back was aching twenty four seven.
Also, she had begun experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions which are caused by a woman's body preparing for actual child birth.
She was terrified the first time she felt them, she had Christine rush her to the hospital.
After some reassurances from Dr. Williams, Stevie finally calmed down and she was released to go home.Stevie hadn't heard from Lindsey since he left, she tried to call him but he didn't answer and he didn't attempt to call her.
She asked Christine, Mick and John but they too hadn't heard from him.
Stevie soon stopped calling; she shed tears over it, she was really worried about Lindsey. One afternoon, Stevie sat in the living room on the sofa singing to her daughter. The baby was moving and kicking more than ever now; she was always so active.
Christine walked into the living room smiling, seeing the heartwarming scene in front of her.
She had noticed the change in Stevie, and it was nice change; of course she did still have her bad days.
Stevie was enjoying her pregnancy much more now.Stevie noticed Christine standing in front of her. She smiled at her and motioned for Christine to sit by her.
Christine did so and joined in on singing to Stevie's belly.
Stevie stopped suddenly and breathed in and out.
"You alright?" Christine asked.
Stevie nodded and sighed. "Yes, I'm okay. She's just moving a lot and well...it hurts a bit." She chuckled. "Oh my god look!" Stevie exclaimed.
She pulled her blouse up and pointed at her bare belly. Christine looked and saw Stevie's belly moving.
"Oh jeez! That's freaky looking." Christine stared in horror. "Ouch! Jeez Stevie that does look painful."
Stevie laughed then pulled her blouse down, her hands caressing her belly."Stevie? I was wondering if you want to go shopping with me. I want to get the baby something from me, her aunt Christine. And well, I don't want to go alone. So what do you say? Come on, that way you can get out of the house for a while." Christine asked.
"Well, I do need to get a bassinet and well...everything else. I don't know why it's taking me this long. Oh Chris, I don't know. I feel so tired, plus I'm scared someone will see me! I'm not hard to miss now." Stevie said.
"Come on Stevie! Let's get out of the house for a while." Christine said and made puppy dog eyes at Stevie. "Please?"
Stevie laughed again and shook her head. "Fine!"
"Jeez Nicks! You better hope I don't teach my niece that trick. You'll be putty in her tiny hands."Thirty minutes later, Christine drove them to the nearest baby store.
Once inside, Stevie grabbed every piece of baby girl clothing she could get her hands on.
Christine went her own way and got diapers, baby wipes, and a few items the baby would need. Then Christine found a bassinet that she knew Stevie would like. She found Stevie who immediately fell in love with the beautiful bassinet.
After paying for the items, Christine and an employee at the baby store loaded the car with all their purchases.
Stevie took a moment and sat down on a rocking chair. She had worn herself out; she closed her eyes and rocked gently, her hand on her belly.
She almost fell asleep when she heard Christine call out to her name.
"Chris? Can you help me up?" Stevie asked.
"Of course." Christine held her hand and helped Stevie stand.
"Okay, no more outings until the baby's born. I feel really exhausted. I just don't have the energy anymore." Stevie said then yawned.
