Mave's Point of view

Thank the lord because it is finally Friday. This week seems to have gone so slowly. I'm still not over Jayden waving at me yesterday. I've liked him for nearly 10 years. It's actually quite weird that he is only just noticing me now. However, I'm not going to complain. Better late than never I say.

I get to school really early this morning because I have to meet with Mrs Davies before lesson and I wouldn't have time to get ready for the morning, if i didn't give myself more time by getting here earlier than usual. Harper and Amber agreed to come to school earlier than usual today as well. We cherish our before class gossip sessions.

A lot of rumors go around at my school and although I chose not to bite into them, I still like to hear them. Call me a bad person but I doubt I'm the only girl who has ever wanted to hear something dramatic.

The three of us are talking in front of my locker when I notice Jayden arrive. I'm too busy staring at him to realise that it is time for me to go and meet Mrs Davies.

"Mave, I think it's time for you to go... Mave?" Harper snaps her fingers, which snaps me back into reality.

"Ugh yeah. I should go see what the troll wants." I must have said that a bit louder than anticipated because not only do Amber and Harper laugh, but Jayden snickers and holds back a laugh.

I'm still giggling as I walk away and I hear jayden mumble a quick 'good one.'

_____

When I get to Mrs Davies office she tells me to take a seat. She assures me that there isn't anything wrong and she just needs a favour but that doesn't make me worry any less.

What she asks next, I didn't expect. Apparently Jayden's been falling behind and she recommended a tutor. She want's me to tutor Jayden. At first I have nothing against the idea, but then I realise that me spending so much time with Jayden is probably a bad idea.

"I can't." I say. Mrs Davies looks shocked.

"Why not?" she asks.

"I just think Jayden and I spending time together may be a bad idea."

Mrs Davies almost looks worried.

"Has something happened?" She asks frantically.

"No, not at all. I just don't think it's a good idea." I assure her.

She nods understandingly but I can tell she wants to know more. I'm not going to tell her anything though.

Yet another short chapter, but this is another important piece of the puzzle.

Why do you think Mavis doesn't want think tutoring Jayden is a good idea?

Why do  you think Jayden is only noticing Mavis now?
