A few days later....

"So, should I include my grade 2 piano? I mean, it's not really that impressive," I said as I type my résumé. Arthur looked over my shoulder. For the audition, I needed to have a full CV and a headshot, as expected when working with a professional company. I was currently in Arthur's lounge, at a desk, on my laptop, typing away as he spoke.

"I think you should. It may not seem like much but it still counts as musical experience," He replied. As I typed, he picked up my Drama School certificate. "You never told me you went to drama school," Arthur commented.

"Really? Oh, well I only did it for a few years. They still gave me a certificate but I didn't do it for as long as everyone else," I said, still typing.

"Why's that?" He asked curiously.

"We moved house, so I couldn't continue because it was too far away. I guess I never really thought about joining another one," I explained. Arthur hummed in response. "How's this?" I asked as I finished typing. Arthur leant over and I could feel his breath brush past my ear. I giggled a bit.

"What?" He asked, smirking.

"You're tickling my ear," I said. Arthur chuckled and blew on it harder. "Hey!" I whined and rubbed my ear. He laughed and turned towards the screen again.

"This is good, here," He pointed to my personal statement. "But you're still lacking in this area..." He mumbled as he tapped on the screen where a list of my experience was. "You can mention what you're doing at the moment, your job and uni...And you can also say that you've done a few solo performances," He said. I nodded and began typing again. "Oh, and with the skills area, you can add your driving licence," He added.

"That counts?" I asked in surprise.

"You'd be surprised at the difference it can make," Arthur commented.

"Huh," I said and added it in.

After a few hours, my résumé was finished and Arthur was now explaining the audition process and what I should expect. "You've read the script I gave you, haven't you?" Arthur asked. I nodded like a child in school. "Excellent. So, I must warn you, every director will go about auditions differently, so I can't give you a clear idea of exactly what's going to happen. However, you should expect to have to sing a song from another show," Arthur explained. I nodded.

"Will I have to know it off-by-heart?" I asked, feeling nervous about the lack of time I had to learn a song.

"Yes," Arthur said. I gulped. He smiled reassuringly. "You'll be fine. It's not as hard as you think. The directors will want to get to know your acting style and skills, which is why they recommend you don't perform something from the actual show you're auditioning for," He informed.

"What should I do?" I asked helplessly. I had never felt so nervous about an audition before. It was far more complicated than any of the school shows I had done. Arthur pondered for a minute.

"For your voice...I think I have the perfect one," He said and walked out of the room. He returned a few moments later with a music book. "Here," Arthur opened the page and gave it to me. My Fair Lady: I Could Have Danced All Night. "Do you know the song?" He asked.

"I think so, it seems vaguely familiar," I mumbled.

"Have a listen," Arthur said as he typed the song up on Youtube.
