Marcus:

I left my brother’s house sighing, working with those two was going to be hell, they hated me more than my brother. Angelica was one of those freaky angels who believed herself married to god, she had her eyes removed at a young age, and kept her whole body covered in white satin, except for her hands feet and hair which she left bare. Bastian was the total opposite, he was a borderline fallen, crude and mean, worse very little, only enough to cover himself. I had known them for quite a few years, they were the most powerful of the orders they belonged to. Angelica belonged to the Angels of god’s love, and Bastian belonged to the Order of the Dark angel. Each order took our way of life to the extreme, the order of god’s love believed that angels should only love god, and that breeding between angels was wrong, meanwhile the order of the Dark angel believed that the one and only focus of our kind should be the destruction of all who are not pure angels, including humans. Naturally that meant neither of them liked me very much.

I started towards the temple where the Angels of god’s love called home, normally men weren’t allowed inside but this was under orders from my brother, one of the highest ranking angels in our society. The temple itself was quite simple, it looked a lot like a human church made out of a white stone with clear windows. It was big enough to house around one hundred angels, but that still was small compared to many of the buildings in Heaven.

I reached the door to the temple and rang the bell, it made a soft noise, like the tinkling of a thousand tiny bells. I watched as the door open slightly “what do you want… half-blood” she said, I could tell she had only just joined the order, her wings were full and fresh, many of the angels in the order plucked their wings so instead of coming down to their feet at rest they stretched out lengthwise at all times, they said that it was so their wings could hold god at all times, I thought it was just because they were crazy. There was also the fact that that the badges around her eyes looked new, they were still soaked with her blood

“Obviously you have been warned about me” I said to the angel “you are only young, your eyes freshly stolen, you wouldn’t have developed the sense the other eccentrics here have”

“ECCENTRICS!” the angel gasped “we have found favour with the lord, something a thing like you will never understand!”

“Aha, that’s way the vast majority of angels call you guys eccentrics as well” I said rolling my eyes “I need to see angelica”

“A high ranking sister like her doesn’t have the time for a thing like you!” the angel growled

“sister Emily” spoke a voice behind her “the only one who can speak for me is the lord” walking forward from within the temple came Angelica, you could tell she had been beautiful once, her hair was golden, it came down to her waist, it was smooth and straight, too straight. Her skin was soft and smooth but way to pale to be healthy. It was sad, I remember having a crush on her a child, but now all that was left was a shadow of who she was “Angelica” I spoke “my brother has sent me to speak to you”

“Of course he has” Angelica spoke, sounding none too pleased “follow me”

“But he is a man!” growled Emily

“When you grow older you will understand that there are rules that can be broken” spoke angelica coldly as she walked away from her. I followed Angelica giving Emily a smug grin as I did so. I moved up beside Angelica and caressed her hair softly, making sure not to touch her body “you sounded like the old angelica just then” I said softly “I miss her”

“I am as I have always been” she said, catching my wrist and shoving it away from her “I told you before, our so called friendship was nothing more than pity, I felt sorry for you”

“And I told you before” I said “I don’t buy it for a second…. I remember the day you came crying to me because you were going to have to marry my brother, you may have been raised here, but you and I both know you only really joined so you wouldn’t have to marry my brother”

“Do not act like you know me, Marcus” Angelica said darkly as we entered a room. The room a rounded shape but it was bare, no furniture, no windows, no colour, just the door and a circular rug that sat in the middle of the room.

Angelica moved to sit cross-legged on the edge of the rug, I moved to sit the same way across from her. “So what does the scum you call a brother want” she said

“I have failed my latest assignment, I was charge with watching the incarnation of a powerful demon in the human realm, the demons got to her first and took her to hell…. Now I must go to hell before they find a way to restore her power and bring her away from them” I explained to her

“And what does that have to do with me?” angelica asked curiously

“My brother does not trust me, he has never trusted me, so I must take two with me, naturally he picked you as one of those two”

“And… who is the other?”

“Need you really ask?”

“It’s Bastian… isn’t it, that psychopath!”

“Yes, it is”

“Do I have a choice” she sighed “I’ll come… but keep that… thing as far as away from me as possible”

“Thank you, angelica” I said “will you come with me to the Dark angels?”

“I don’t know… I haven’t seen or spoken to Bastian in… many years”

“You have my oath that I will not let him harm you… we both know… he is not the same anymore”

“yes… we do… very well, I shall come with you” she stood up and placed a hand on my shoulder “I know one thing will not change about you Marcus… your oath is your law, I may not be allowed to like you… but I have and will always continue to trust you” she started to leave the room “I must prepare myself for the journey, you may show yourself out I will meet you outside in half an hour”

“very well, Angelica” I spoke softly, getting up myself and walking out of the temple.
