TOM HESITATED FOR a moment and Elena gave him a smile smothered in her warm personality.
He knew that leaving the goddamn job and living in a 'normal' environment would be risky business.
Normal, he thought.
Like he could ever live a normal life. Not with his current status and previous job.
He was known as a spy and an assassin- of course the people around him would be in danger.
He knew that he have stayed in his job and not have attempted a civilian life- otherwise none of this would have happened.
"Tom..." Elena whispered his name and stood by him. "What's wrong?" Turning himself towards her, Tom opened his mouth to speak.
"Elena-"
"Don't lie to me, please..." She looked at him, biting her bottom lip.
Tom felt as if he had to tell Elena.
Secrets- sometimes they were good to keep, but could take a turn for the worst and wreak havoc.
Breathing in, Tom pressed his hands onto Elena's shoulders.
"Elena, listen to me. If I tell you this, there is no turning back from this and you may be in danger."
"Tom..." Elena inhales deeply. "I knew my life was in danger as soon as I took the job to be a forensic psychologist. The constant crimes scenes and the hate in court- it scared my parents too. And I know that there is no turning back." She replied quickly and holds Tom's hands. "I want to help."
Tom focused into Elena's eyes and she instantly simpered.
It was a true and honest answer. Or so he thought it was.
He immediately knew he could trust her, despite knowing her for a short amount of time.
"O-okay Elena..." She picked up a piece of paper.
"Besides, I still owe you after you attempted to help me." Elena smiled smugly. "So, what's happened?"
"M-my friend, Chris, happened. He hasn't been home." Elena shrugged.
"Maybe he had a really late night?" Tom narrowed his eyes.
"I know Chris."
"Maybe... he didn't tell you."
"Look." He firmly said and took the paper that Elena was holding. "At exactly 1800 hours he was at home with his wife, Sarah." He glances at her and Elena looks at him, frowning.
"Where'd you get these?" She slowly ruffled through some others papers on the table. Tom's eyes widened.
"I... I did say I worked for... security?"
"Yes."
"And, I have the facilities." He smiled for a moment and then Tom's face went blank. "A-anyway, then, his phone went off radar for around six hours now."
"I could ask someone at work to do some magic." Tom instantly shook his head.
"No, no, no! Can we keep this strictly between us?" Elena nodded.
"Of course." She was walking about her privacy and confidentiality clause in her job.
When Tom thought there was no hope in finding his friend, his phone rings and he was obliged to answer it.
"Hello."
"Hey, hey Tom it's Andrew. Listen, Chris' phone just came on- I'm going to send you a tracking app, download it and follow the blip." Tom smiled.
"Thank God, thank you Andrew." Rushing to his feet, Tom grabbed his coat and spun it onto his shoulders. "Elena, come on!" He shouted, scrambling down the stairs.
Hesitating, Elena sighed heavily and ran down the stairs with him, also swinging her coat onto her own shoulders.
"Where are we going?" Tom pulled the app up on his phone and simpered at the blip that appeared.
"Andrew, you beauty." He twirled round to Elena. "Can I drive your car?"
"Yeah, yeah, sure." Elena handed her keys to him and they both raced around, until the blip was closer to them.
"Got it. That warehouse."
"Wait, we're going to go in there?" Elena, asks, swallowing hard.
Tom pulled out a gun from his pocket.
"We are going in to save my friend."
